Lost interest in car

Has anybody ever just lost interest in your car? Ive had mine for 17 years now, it's just sitting in the driveway. Between work and family I just sort of gave up on it. Should I sell it and find another car? I've put a lot of money into the car over the years and it still needs a lot more. Kinda want to get more opinions on the matter.

I had a 95 T-Bird SC that I LOVED, but eventually got bored with. Like you, I spent a lot of money modifying it. But I just lost interest in it so I sold it. I miss it from time to time, but I don't regret selling it. Sometimes you just need a new toy.

I've never had a woman be able to keep my interest, much less a car.

Yep. That's how it goes. Buy one, fix it up, get bored, start all over again. Unless you have the resources to keep all of them and have somewhere to keep them all.

Let's face it: They're just machines. You can love them, but there's no way they're gonna love you back.

I miss these still:
'78 Mustang II Hatch v6 4sp
'66 Tbird
'66 Mustang Coupe i6 auto aka Muskrat
'87 Lincoln Mark VII. Best. Car. Ever.

I don't miss these, and yeah, I was really REALLY tired of them when I finally got rid of them... or they were got rid of for me:
'97 Tbird V6. Don't get me wrong, this one was pretty ok for 3.5 years, but it was just transportation. Glad to have it at the time, truly, but when it was done, it was DONE.
'78 Suzuki GS450. Just... No.
'86 SVO. Second. Worst. Car. Ever.
'95 Lincoln Mark VIII. Worst. Car. Ever. I made a webpage about it it was so bad:
http://web.wt.net/~houtex/posessed.htm

I am in love with and will NEVER EVER get rid of Awesome. Ever. I mean it. She's my car, and there's no way I will ever let her go like I did Muskrat. And to this day, I wish I had kept the Mark VII. Seriously, that was still the best car... just a workhorse. Should have just put a new mill and trans in her, redid the axle, all that, and just kept her goin'. Sigh...

And I really like Ride, but... she'll be harder to keep running by a long shot. '95 PC800s are hard to keep going in some aspects... then again, there's this one run by Vermin that will NOT die...

Anyway. Nostagicness and such.

That's a long time!! I doubt you will miss it. We all miss cars that we owned in the past, but believe or not, if we could all get our rides back again, we would probably get tired of them all over again after a year or two. I know I would like to have my '75 Bricklin with it's 351 Ford Windsor back at times, but the same old issues would arise again. Change is a good thing with cars. I've owned many a very long time and you just know when the time is right. I think you have probably reached that point.

I've had my Fox since new; it turned 20 back in September. It hasn't moved out of the garage since late summer..... I haven't added any mods to it besides gears, intake, exhaust, and some basic audio upgrades; the last of which was in the late '90s. Why sell it now? I wouldn't get anywhere near the $$ for it that it's worth to me. As the years continue to go by, there is less and less of them on the road. If you've had it for 17 years, there's a reason for that. I've had many, many other Mustangs and cars over the last 20 years but I've only kept one.... there's a reason for that too.

remember once it's gone it's pretty much gone. no guarantee another vehicle will make things any better. I have had vehicles come and go also and a few regrets. I get hot/cold with my 2 toy cars now but I think it's normal, I do know that I don't ever want to part them nor start over on another project.

Looks like I'm going to stick with my old ride. Looked around and nothing really stands out enough to get rid of my car. Plus everything is priced higher than I expected, and I know what needs to be done to my car.

You are correct, everything now carries a higher price..except the one you want to sell. Everyone will want it for a bargain basement price. Just the way it always seems to work.

Try to recall the passion you once had and dig deep to feel it once again. They can be alot like raising kids in the fact that they can become old hat or a pain in the butt, but you wouldn't really give up on either one.
