Under the hood theres some electrical wires and hoses that seem worn. Is it worth replacing? Example, wires connected to the battery.

I mean I wouldn't sweat it. It's an 06 not a 96. Maybe the hoses. Wouldn't bother with the battery cables though.

Oh okay.. does any one know if tuners are for automatic trans only? Sorry, dunno about this stuff.. and can anyone suggest what my first mod should be. I've been debating whether I should go clutch, or the bama tuner with the cold air intake.

The wires are fine, what you're seeing being worn is likely the tubing the wires are in. That stuff doesn't like heat, and movin' it around it cracks and breaks apart.

I'm going to get more tubing and just replace it. The wires themselves, their insulation, is much more capable of living under the hood.

Those connectors though... Ugh. Be careful of the tabs and such.

Tuners will help any trans type. I have a stick and it really woke it up . I hear its even better for autos. Your mods should be planned out by what your final goal is. Most start with the CAI and Tune.

If I were you I would make sure the car is mechanically sound before doing anything.

That's exactly what I'm aiming for at the moment.. any tips on troubleshooting mechanical problems I might not be aware of? I'm inlove with the car, but I just wanna make sure it runs excellent stock before putting mods on it.

You can get a Chilton manual at Auto Zone etc. and check fluids and brake linings etc. if your not sure there is always a mechanic willing to take your money.

Yea tuners work both ways. You shouldn't need a clutch for a while. Tuner and axelbacks would be my first two mods. The CAI will make the car a little louder but most of the performance gain comes from the tune.

Yeah I saw that website.. has amazing stuff for the car. I might go ahead and buy the Chilton manual to make sure the car is overall okay before doing some mods. So as of now, first mod is Cai and bama tuner.

you usually get 3 tunes. I got one for each octane. What was wrong with the car that it was in the shop? How much did it cost you to get it fixed?

Luke, congrats on the Mustang. If I were you I would do as some have said. If your concerned go ahead and flush the tranny, and radiator, and change the oil. Have a mechanic check your brakes, and rotors, and replace if needed. If it's running smooth the plugs should be OK. Step by step before you worry about cai's, and tuners. Being this is your first car, I'm going to say be careful, and get used to the car before your try her out. These Mustangs are very quick, and dangerous if your not experienced with the power. I know I sound like your parents here, but it's good advise for any age that hasn't driven a car like these. Enjoy.

@Glenn.. well the car would start then immediately shut off. Then they found out after a week, that the alternator wiring harness wasnt in proper position so it burned, and they replaced it with no charge at all.

This actually isn't my first car, I've had a Hyundai Tiburon with a stick. But yeah, can't compare that power wise..

And another thing guys. I wanna reset my ECU by disconnecting the batteries negative terminal for 20 mins and while doing so I step on the brake a few times and have the key on the ignition and turn it on (not engine on). Then while doing so I wanna clean the throttle body.. is this okay? And if there's things that need to be corrected please say so. And I'm wondering during that process if the battery will die?
