Hi all, I've driving my pony for 3 month. Everything worked just fine; however, when I put a bottle water or cup coffee in the cup holder. Always feel uncomfortable when changing gear, my arm got stock by the bottles.

Anyone ever feel the same or just me? If so, what are the solutions.

I've been thinking about changing the shift stick after looking at my friend's mustang 1965.

+1
I always had a cup or something in the cup holder and rested it there...if I was lazy I'd just use my wrist to shift otherwise lift it up some to shift...

I use a pt size jar that honey came in for water. It sits low and not in the way. A pt canning jar works also but you have to fool with a canning lid. I have a small cooler on the passenger seat for anything else.

No it's usually pretty comfortable unless you get an odd shaped or over size drink

Cans of beer fit nicely (12 oz), bottles are a small problem, just lift the arm up a bit and you shift just fine...

I have no issues as I don't usually drive with something to drink in the car, if I do I compensate and make it work.

I don't have a solution but I remember the first time I drove a new Mustang I looked at the cup holders right behind the shifter and wondered what "bugger-eating-moron" thought this configuration up? I can work around them like everybody else does but it was, and is, stupid. Usually I drop my cell phone and wallet in the cup holders and keep a bottle of water with a cap on it handy wherever I can reach it.

I wish someone (are you reading this aftermarket) would make a plastic piece that could just wedge between the center console and the middle of the back seat. That hump would be a decent enough place to keep a water bottle.

On my 2009 there is an insert in the cup holder (second one from the shifter) that comes out so the cup sits further down and doesn't get in the way.

My 13 has that as well. Helps alot unless the bottle is really tall. A normal water bottle (16.9 oz.) sinks in almost all the way and doesn't get in the way of shifting at all.

I would love to see an aftermarket "caddy" that fit behind the console on the floor as stated earlier. I would buy that in a heartbeat.
