Weird how city cops found it, but not on the same 'system' as the county and FHP for missing/stolen car bulletins- what gives? This car was in the lot for about a week. Gonna cost us $500, mostly storage costs - and of course they dont take credit cards or checks- cash only. Well, there goes the money I was going to use for new fenders and extensions. UGH! At least I got it back. Will come back with pics and more updates (tranny probably got killed falling off a trailer in Park)- in say about 2-3 days.

I just read this thread. I know that for several days you didn't find this at all funny, but I was chuckling at everyone trying to make sense of the story. You must have felt like you were in a dream, where everything makes perfect sense until you wake up and replay the dream and the events are absolutely ridiculous. Kind of like the Twilight Zone. I appreciate your willingness to play along and answer questions, it must not have been easy.
Anyhow, now that your saga has a (relatively) happy ending, can you give us some details on your conversations with law enforcement? They deal with crazy/weird people and bizarre situations all the time, but this one has to rank up there. Dinner table conversation: "Honey, anything out of the ordinary at the dispatch desk today?" "You wouldn't believe this call I got." Or, with your folks: "Since you mentioned it, the truck did seem to get a little peppier, I just thought it was that premium grade fuel kicking in."
Things fall off of trailers and trucks all the time (I see the debris every day on the Houston freeways), but I don't believe I've ever heard of your story.
Eagerly awaiting pictures, hoping the damage isn't too bad.
(PS I once had a 69 GT, a rare beast to be sure)

Edgewater?? Didn't even think there was an exit near there, for a townie to get it. Pretty close to the end of your parents run, next exit north is Smyrna Beach area. Sooo, it made most of the trip. Ask them how they came about it. Don't think that shoreline town has jursidiction up on 95. Strictly Valuosa & FHP.

Well, really not much to see. The most related damage to falling off that I can see is some dents in the back end of the gas tank and a bent transport bracket (you know, the ones that the dealers were supposed to have removed). Other than that, she's only a mess because of the years of neglect of being at my folks place and in a storage yard and the harsh handling of said storage yard. Speaking of related damage- how hard is it to fix the Park pawl in the C-4?
Needless to say though, she's sitting in my garage, waiting for me to get started on bringing her back to life. Thanks for the help fellas.
Ok- here are some pics-
the 69 GT on the trailer (not getting away from us this time)
this chain says so!
.. and here's the 88LX pulling escort duty

I still cant believe they didnt notice.......maye they were nodding of to sleep and the noise woke them up, but they didnt relize thats what it was....this is definatley an odd story. Glad everything turned out kinda good instead of kinda bad.

My thoughts exactly, glad you got it back, and glad you didn't have the bad ending to the story that appeared to be developing.

If they had a system that linked with other agencies you'd have had the car much sooner.

yeah...its not like you weren't looking for it the whole time they had it.

You shouldn't be charged beyond the day after the police report was filed.

The fees incurred were by a private company. I am not exactly sure if the city sees any of that money (then again, who knows). It was a call by the officer that found it to put it there. My folks were the ones that got the letter saying where it was, and they made the same points. Also made sure to get a receipt (being they only accepted cash). We'll see what happens, but for night now, thats the cost of a couple of NOS fenders right there.
