Had to work today. Will call folks later. Discussed this situation with coworkers too. And of course got that "WTF" look on them. All I could do is shrug. I also put in for leave next week to find it myself if it doesnt turn up. And as if things werent bad enough, tranny in the 88 is acting up a little, so I may just take it in to have a look at.

302, 2V carb, C-4 and 3.25:1, locked (i'm pretty sure it was the 9" because theres no bolts viewable from the rear)... ummm, and check to see if that same person is selling a laptop too, per chance.
By the way- does anyone here work for FHP?

Yes, my folks said they did, but yielded nothing. They said the trooper took down the info, but I dont know if he did anything about it. And even if he had the info, its more of a "wait til it turns up" kinda deal.
I will make calls myself. Problem is updates wont be coming soon because- 1. It happened over a weekend, 2. Holiday coming up right after the weekend, and 3. govt employees - all 3 make for an inconvenient time to report a "lost" car. I am guess Wednesday at the earliest before I can actually speak to someone. I was even checking on the FHP traffic site to see if maybe by chance it is mentioned somehow (abandoned vehicle?). I cannot seem to find any kind of online police blotter system for the FHP. Havent tried for each individual county jurisdiction though.
PS- Insurance fraud for a 'lost' car with at most Florida "no-fault" insurance?

Unless it's been changed if the car was originally a 302 car then it would have an 8" rear end. Both 8 and 9" rear ends have chunks that bolt in from the front.

It was changed. The 302 & C4 were out of the old 69 I used to have. The car was originally a 351W & 4 speed. I bought the car with no motor/tranny and was expecting to put in a 351/4sp, but due to the untimeliness of the other 69's frame splitting, we just decided to consolidate for the mean time.

Sorry to anyone expecting that i will be on some type of fixer upper show-
I called FHP, and they indeed have a bulletin out for my 'lost 1969 mustang' So unless the FHP is in on it- it is what it is. Called them myself and actually talked to dispatch. And unless they 'come into contact' with it, it will stay 'lost'. folks also took another long drive up I-95 and still nothing. Even peered into a few canals and found where other cars went off the road and into the treelines. I wll be more thorough when I make my trip next week. Also, I just put in for leave, didnt tell anyone until 2 days ago. I'm guessing that unless any floridians on here are willing to look really deep into the woodlines or in every body of water between martin and volusia counties, it will be up to me to find it. That is unless by some incredible chance that someone else managed to snag it up after it fell off and somehow tow it away (one of my less likely theories). Then again, I've seen even really crappy 69 sportroofs going for a lot higher than I would pay for a good one. And if he wants to, Chip is more than welcome to help me find it.

x21,
You may want to keep one eye on EBAY as you conduct your searches. I would also get in contact with local salvage and scrapyards. If either of them have had any SportsRoof parts come in, especially in the Florida area, I think it is a safe bet that it may be part of your car. Cars don't dissappear. Who knows? Maybe you'll find it in a spider hole with a buncha cash, junk food and a pistol.
Good luck,
Hooah,
-Jim
P.S.-Craigslist may be another place to sleuth.

Great News! Now remember to show us pictures....I hope for the best but I've got to see what a car looks like after it just goes missing off the back of a trailer at speed!

A little more detail it was in an accident from what i was told- and of course will show pics of the mess. I will see what MORE I have to fix.
The sad irony of it was that I bought the car as a shell. The guy that owned it before me had the body entirely redone. Then it was damaged at a storage yard in Ft Lauderdale, and now this... grrrr - I need to get this car some protection!
EDIT- the accident- meant it hit a tree, no other vehicles involved
