After cleaning trans pan and swapping filter the car wouldn’t engage into drive or reverse. So I added more fluid than the top off point and finally it started to grab drive and reverse. I had the engine hot and the car was in park and level while adding the fluid. The problem is it still is shifting weird now. I feel like it’s making a small whine under hard acceleration and sometimes when shifting from park to drive it won’t catch right away and will just rev. I’ve barely driven it since the fluid change but have noticed these problems. Should I try to add more fluid? I’m just concerned because it seems as if I’m already past the filling point it is supposed to be at. Aka when I remove the torx screw fluid will stream out even when the car is hot. The trans was great beforehand btw. I was trying to do a good thing and keep up on preventative maintenance

Trans pan indicates an automatic transmission. The 5r55s in that car is sometimes subject to a solenoid pack and various other maladies that can befall you, even if you were only changing the fluid out. Go to youtube, search for FordTechMakuLoco and look up in his channel 'transmissions'. Those videos will help you out. One of the goto guys for all things Ford on them MePipes.

Overfilling can be as wrong as underfilling. Don't guess. My actual advice is to take it to a transmission shop what knows these things and get it properly fixed.

Sorry the best of intentions caught ya this time, but sometimes swapping the fluid in these things actually makes bad things happen.
