Hail Damage - totally bummed out.

Title says it all. Storm blew through this afternoon an hour before I get off work. Chance of strong winds and hail. What does it do, it hails. Most of it was pea sized, but then came the golf ball sized stuff.

I stopped counting after 24 dings, 4 are big. I'm sure I'll find more when it is day light. It's my DD, so not a lot I could do. Plus when has the weather person ever been right. Last zillion times they've predicted hail, it never did where I was. Today my luck ran out.

I'm just sick when I look at her, all beat up. I hope the body shop can do an excellent job getting her back to normal.

That's a bummer. I'm sorry to hear that.

California may be a crazy state, but I'm happy I don't get gnarly hail.

Sorry to hear about this...just "down the road" from you. We've been watching the storms roll in for a few hours now.

Hang in there, and best of luck with your repairs.

That stinks! I don't get much hail here but there have been a few times I've raced to park under an overpass! And I wasn't alone!!

I hear those paintless dent repairs are pretty good. Best of success for you!!

+1 on paintless dent repair, Rog. This may turn out to be less of a catastrophe than you fear. Good luck for a pain(t)less, good-as-new repair!

Don't worry my friend....I lived in Kansas for a long time and hail is a very common occurrence. The paintless dent removal guys are amazing, they'll take care of it for you.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck.

Don't take the car to a Body Shop. Find a dent repair place and have them look at it.

Thanks guys, glad to hear about paintless dent repair. I was afraid of a repaint.

If any one knows of a good local shop here in Indy that can perform this, or a national chain they would recommend. I would greatly appreciate it.

My insurance was recommending local body shops and not a dent repair specialist, but they said they dont have an issue with a dent repair specialist they just dont work with any. I found quite a few googling but dont know who to go with.

I just got a ding in my roof from a rock off a dump truck and my friends are recommending Dent Wizard, who are national. They quoted me $125 for one dent with no paint damage. I'm sure it'll be cheaper per dent with that much damage, but it'll likely exceed your insurance deductible. You do have hail coverage, correct?

I've used Dent Wizard, and they did a fine job. Also, used another (can't remember their name) for hail damage on my '04 Lightning. They did a great job also. It's interesting how the massage the dent right out. They also found hail damage that I couldn't see. Trained eye I guess. Good luck.

Rog, it might be worth checking out Angie's List to see if you can get some recommendations on a dent repair specialist. Or check with some street rodders, if you are acquainted with any-- you know how **** those guys are!

Wow that really sucks. I had this happen once, but on a GMC pickup that I really hated. Actually made some money from the dents on the thing. Never got it fixed. Can't image how you feel, but I would be sick. Good luck with the repairs. Keep us updated.

Fortunately, I do have hail insurance. I'd go beat my agent if that wasnt part of my policy, lol . My insurance was recommending a local body shop which is their preferred shop (Church Brothers) for auto damage, but I can take it any where.

I did find a couple local dent specialist, Indy Dent company, and Elimidents they list several references. I am going to call their references and see what they think of their work. 8 are some of the larger Auto dealers in town.

Good call on Angies list I think I'm going to sign up.

Sorry to hear that. I got caught in that storm also. (Indy) it was 30 minutes before I was off...

Someone told me it was hailing outside...I just shook my head. Luckily there was no damage but I didn't know that until the rain stopped and the car was detailed again. (Last night)

I feel your pain. My heart sank that day and it was a VERY long and uncertain drive home.

That storm slid south of me, and my ride was safe in the garage anyway. One of the perks of being retired: every week has six Saturdays and one Sunday (when the package stores are closed).

I had an estimate today, and going to need to call the claims adjuster. The shop took the time to walk me through how they are able to remove the dents, and they were even working on another customers car.

They took my car in their shop they put it under a light and you could see alot more dents in the roof, it is worse than I thought. A bad hit on the front fender was right along the crease, and it cracked the paint, now were talking a repaint. That was one of my worst fears was a repaint.

Then there's the hood. It has 4 large dents, and they said the hood is aluminum, and those are probably not repairable by them because of their depth and size, it would probably need to be replaced.

Now the fun begins. Cant wait to meet the adjuster.

mine got caught in a hail storm 2 or 3 weeks ago. marble size. only one small paint dent and a small chip in the windshield. so now i 2 paint damage and 2 windshield damage places both 2 small to bother fixing i think.

Got my car back today, finally. I am very pleased with their work. I can't tell there was ever any damage. It ended up A long ordeal that should not have been. My adjuster was playing hard ball with a preferred vendor, and I was stuck in the middle. It took 2 weeks to get the repairs done because he wouldn't approve the body shops supplemental because he wanted to low ball the estimate.

I ripped my insurance a new one in the survey they sent me. Told them to call me as this was unacceptable, and they did call. I was shocked. They were very apologetic, and the ball got rolling afterward.

My baby looks as good as new. I can't tell where the damage was! It's going to be a perfect weekend going to have to go for a drive tomorrow!
