Indeed, Redstar said "Camaro," not "F-body," so I included only Camaros and Mustangs, not F-bodies and Fox-bodies. Tom and Peter's book does include firebird numbers as well, but I left them out for that reason.
It is interesting how much different numbers can be from source to source...look at 1990- the Fox-Body Guide says 34,986 camaros and 20,532 firebirds...I know there was an economic recession in 1990 but this does seem awefully low so I wonder if perhaps theres a typo in the book? One number in the right place can make a huge difference...

GM only made 2 retro cars, SSR and HHR. SSR went into production 3 years after Firebird and HHR went on sale recently. So that can't be reason.

By the way, its Aston Martin, not Austin Martin.

My understanding is that other than some bruised egos there weren't any injuries just broke cars. I wouldn't post a pic if I thought anyone was injured.

Man, you guys are sounding a bit like the F-body snobs that abound on the net (LS1.com anybody)

the detriot autoshow is supposed to have a Camaro concept and the clack is, if it gets a good reception, the new f-bod will be out in 09 or so.

now, competition is a good thing, except when you gotta eat crow

This wont be hard for GM to do and do at a competitve price (eg; Z06!)

3500 lbs x 400hp x 400ft/lbs @ 25,000.00 = red faced mustang driver at the stop light.

As it stands, they have from 300 to 500hp V8s already in production (although I hear the LS7 will be replaced with a cheaper S/C'd mill that produces the same or better power) and they just need something cheap to put them in.

Hopefully Ford will have something to counter when and/or if the new F-body appears. a base 300 hp car is a given, but another 100hp is only an LS2 away.

IMO, a nice all aluminum 5.4 3v SOHC engine with a bit bigger cams and more aggressive tune using premium fuel would do the trick, but thats just wishful thinking.

To mustangs credit, it will have been out for a while, the bugs are going to be worked out a bit and it will be cheaper to produce, opening the door for SE's or some interesting options to counter GM's f-body.

So we will see, hopefully the blue oval guys won't sit on the sidelines when GM and DCX come out with thier pony cars

and to also note if anybody hasn't seen it, the DCX 5.7 hemi with just a set of headers, a cam and a very basic tune meant to eleminate the rev limiter knocked down 480 hp in N/A form.

of course 5.7H w/ heads & cams will put down 480 - that is tuned down 30% from capacity - seems like that one being on the top of the power curve means the Stock Shelby will run it just fine - @ mid 12s out of the box.....

3650 lbs x 450 + rwhp all acc. x 450+ rwtq = lots Horses & the Shelby Legend

GM and DCX don't make "pony cars" .....

last check -- the 05s were selling 1 out of 2 cars in the small segment specialty market - the other 50% of the sport cars sold as 05s are split between the remainder of the builders --- (RE: 2005 Chicago Auto Show Ford Press Release)

Brand biases are about as stupid as a left handed saw.

It was wrong of the guy to hate on your car simply because it's a ford or mustang. A WS6 is one heck of car, and with minimal mods is in the 12's. More than we can say. So what, we got an awesome interior, and classic styling. Honestly I'd take the LS1 over this 3v 4.6L anyday, much more potential and strength. I didn't exactly get the car because of the engine. If I wanted a straight drag car for power I'd get an F-body, but I want a jack of all trades.

I could add Camaro & Firebird numbers and Mustang & Capri numbers (from 1979 until 1986 because Capri didn't exist before or after those years). I'll do that when I get home from school (in few hours).

People say that about cars, but why are people loyal to sports teams. Same concept. Doesn't mean you can't respect a differnt brand.

No, that was a 5.7 hemi with just a cam, headers and a retune, nothing more. IMO the 6.0 hemi will be a 500hp engine with just a cam and headers.

Granted, these are aftermarket mods, but that aint shabby for just a cam and exhaust swap.

Actually, that's not correct. The Capri was sold by Lincoln-Mercury dealers from 1969 to 1977. However, it wasn't built on the same platform as the Mustang. In fact, it was a European Ford imported to the US. I believe they were built in Cologne, Germany.

Here's a pic of a 1973 Capri:

Sorry for the off-topic post but I just wanted to clarify the facts around the Capri.
