Ford should build a Mustang museum
Ford should consider taking a page from the GM play book and build a Mustang museum. Then they could make an option for museum delivery like Chevrolet does for Corvette buyers. GM will even call you and allow you to follow your Corvette down the assembly line and watch it as it is built and meet the workers. They even photograph the whole thing for you (for $$$ of course). How awesome is that?
The Corvette was 37 when it got its own museum (1953 - 1990). The Mustang is 46 1/2 (1964.5 - 2011). There are more than enough special Mustangs and Mustang fans to warrant a museum. I realize that the cars are not in the same league. The Mustang sells way more units than the Corvette, and the Corvette is way more expensive. It isn't like Ford will have 6000 people asking for museum delivery every month. Most will just get the car from the dealership. But for the Mustang faithful who spend weeks thinking about how to order their new steed, this would be the ultimate high. It also would generate a lot of press for Ford and the Mustang.
If I ever buy a new Corvette, I'm definitely going to walk it down the line and pick it up the next day at the museum. I wish I could do the same with a Mustang.

There was a big push for a Mustang Museum about 10+ years ago, but it did not get off the ground and the project died. The Corvette Museum is a non-profit organization that GM has given donations to, but does not own. I have been a member of the Corvette Museum for ten years and I have been there several times. It is a great place to visit.
