Is Ford pushing the V6?

I've shopped all the dealers within a 50 mile radius, and there is a noticeable lack of GT 5.0s. Abundance of V6's, and most dealers have at least one Shelby and one Boss. And the salesmen push the V6s. I haven't been able to drive a non-Brembo GT 5.0 yet because of lack of inventory.

What's up with the model mix ?

V6 is their volume model, and alot of salesman are not educated as well as they should. Probably pushing the cars they need to sell/have had good luck selling.

Just 0.02$ for ya

There are probably 4X as many V6s out there. I know when I went in to order my 5.0 he kept telling my "Get the V6, 3-0-5 horse and faster then anything you have ever driven I bet"(minus the 1400HP supras, or GSX-Rs..), told him no..."here is what I want to order, if not I will find a dealer that will" and his response was "so the black V6 on the lot is a no go? Just one test drive". I shook his hand and got what I wanted elsewhere haha

That's just the way it goes. There's a lot more V6's than GT's, and the salesmen just try to push whatever they have at the time.

Thats why you need to find a salesman/dealership that prides itself on not pressuring people into buying anything. I've found a Mazda dealership and Ford dealership so far that do that. Thats why I have Fords and Mazdas.

People don't like to be stressed to buy something when its costing thousands of dollars. It should be enjoyable. If I owned a dealership I would make **** certain all my salesman practiced this. First time someone comes on the lot, ask them if they need help. If they say no, tell them your name and say you'll be inside if they need anything. Thats the way to do it. Not standing next to them making small talk and trying to force them into a test drive. If they want to drive, they'll come knocking.

Happen to know the salesmen with the most mustang experience and didn't let him talk me into anything, I wanted what I wanted. The same can't be said about everyone, a lot of people just find a car they have on the lot and live with it, I could do that with the new ecoboost I want but when it comes to the stang, I couldn't settle

Gentlemen, something else to consider. Auto manufacturers must meet federal mandates on pollution emissions and mpg for their cars. Now this does not mean that every car must meet a set number. It means that each 'class' of car must meet a set number. If too many 5.0 Mustangs are sold then the overall average mpg is lower for the overall class. Ford must sell "X" number of V6 cars vs. the V8 cars to bring the 'class-wide' average mpg up to meet federal standards. All car builders face this issue for every class/model vehicle they make. Any car offered with high performance engines must also have the smaller engines available to offset the mpg. This may not apply to the exotic cars like Lamborghini and Ferrari but it sure does apply to Ford, GM and Chrysler.

Not sure if this is STILL the case but I recall reading (5.0 magazine) that the 5.0 motor was taken off the gas guzzler list because of its improved mpg rating. So, the above may not be too difficult to achieve for Ford.

That's because you drive it like we usually do.
Drive it by the EPA standards, you will get at least 26.

Truth has been made with Karman's post. It's painful... but I can do it.
