Ford Built the Wrong GT

The Detroit Auto Show rolled around, and there she was: the all-new 2016 GT. Except it seems like Ford built the wrong car. She had the right looks, but all the wrong guts. Especially since the GT350 has the greatest collection of racecar parts imaginable.

No they didn't. They built the right car.
They're using an over-600HP engine, faster-than-manual automatic with paddle shifters, and carbon fiber everywhere.
Just as an example, the Lamborghini Aventador has a V12 and churns out 690HP. The Ferarri F12 has 790 HP out of it's V12. So Ford using a Turbo V6 and getting over 600HP is pretty **** cool.
The engine is going to be lighter than the 5.2L, and allows for that oh-so-sexy and also aerodynamically sweet rear packaging, so the tradeoff for weight vs an extra 100 ponies and that v8 sound that everyone expected isn't going to matter much, I'd say. I am curious as to the torque of that thing though.
The thing sounds SWEET for a V6. I mean... seriously. Find some video.
And get this: It's been stated that the power to weight ratio is being targeted to be the best of any car. Not any car in it's class. Any. Car.
This car is going to go like gang busters, corner like silly, and put grins on the face of anyone, including the now-sacked-from-Top-Gear Jeremy Clarkson.
The freaking Stig will own one.
There will be talk of "GT350? What GT350?" in comparison. Wait for it, it will be happening.

And now, video proof of how awesome it sounds:

I'm fine with the engine choice as the car is in price range where I bet if someone desires, they could swap a V8.
That mid engine Corvette should come with a V8, I think many corvette loyalists would go nuts if it would not have a V8.

Seems a little too much like Acura's NSX, and less like a Ford, which I personally don't think is a good thing. Still awesome though, but missing the real 'super-car punch' factor. IMO

That is one beautiful car, and I would buy it in a heartbeat if I could afford it.

Ford isn't about being the Ford of yesterday. Ford is showing the world that it can still do what it has always done, "Blue collar to Black-Tie", but now with intelligence and technology. The days of muscle and grunt are long gone (Except for the HellCat). The automotive world is all about refinement and precision.
Take a lesson from the 918.
Personally, I would rather drive a mid engine, flat-plank twin turbo'd 5.2L V8 with 3 pedals but I'll live perfectly fine with Ford shaving some weight and adding in a few more bits of technology.
Honestly, just be grateful it isn't battery assisted... yet. lol
