I like the Cobra R, but it's not Indy.

I've always had a "soft spot" for the '79's. Maybe because I was 16 when they came out. Ah, the stuff dreams are made of.....

I think the 1964 is the coolest..

didn't a whole commotion start at a racetrack in Alabama when a '64 ragtop was pacing it?

Another thing.. from what I have read, the car that actually paced the race has disappeared, if ever unearthed, would be worth a fortune.

A Mustang paced a stock car race at the Huntsville (Ala.) Motor Speedway on April 16, 1964. The race was delayed two hours while the crowd was cleared.

I like the '79....although not a powerhouse by any means it was the coolest looking with the Recaro seats and cowl hood. I've owned 3 '79 Pace Cars over the years before getting into SVOs.

I think the 94 was the way to go. It looked sharp and represented well.

I have to vote for the 94 Cobra Pace Car 'vert.

I'm biased though. My best friend has one for his daily driver. 5 or 6 years ago, we drove the western half of route 66 in that car, from OK City, to the beach in LA and back. You should've seen the "border patrol" as we entered California. I don't think they expected to run into a couple of cowboys in a Cobra with a set of bull horns that we picked up in Arizona strapped to the bumper.

1979, I had two. I have read different articles that say the 82 GT brought back the muscle car. I say it was the 79 pace car with a 302.

If the two open wheel series can get back together, maybe the '06 Cobra will be an option. For now, though, I gotta go with the '79. The paint scheme really separates it from standard '79s, where the '64 and '94 just look like stickers on the door.
