Exhaust opinions

I'm trying to decide in between a few brands for a 06 GT axle back I'm leaning toward the SLP loudmouth or Borla stingers. Which ones do you prefer.

Hands down no comparison the Borlas. I had Borlas, SLP, Bassani, and Corsa on my 06 gt and kept the Borlas. Corsa was the 2nd longest system I kept, lol. Then Bassani then SLP.

What was the reason that slp was last on that list

The SLP is like replacing your mufflers with straight tail pipe. It is loud with harsh tone and droning. If you want to see what it sounds like, just unbolt and remove your factory mufflers. It will be very similar to the SLP.

To be fair remember everyone's opinion on exhaust is just that: their opinion. Hearing and taste is very subjective.

I have had plenty of people say that borla is the best way to go. Why do you like them so much

Borla is one of those brands that's been around for a long time and has a reputation for making a high quality product, and they live up to that reputation. I use magnaflow mufflers personally in conjunction with an offroad X pipe and I really like the sound but everybody has their own taste in exhaust tone and volume.

What do you want your car to soundlike?

There's a ton of options for exhaust on these cars that'll make it sound like anything from a classic '60s muscle car to a modern almost exotic European sounding V8 and anything in between.

Sound, quality of construction and the 4" tips fill out the rear facia nicely. But mainly the sound.

I have a 2005 that I purchased back in 2004. Believe it or not I have been driving with the stock system for just over 7 yrs now. I have had all this time to research the best axle back systems. So here is the deal, imo Borla is the best sounding system PERIOD. After all this time I just purchased the ATAK Borla's and have been jonesing to put them on and fire up the beast. Unfortunately here in the NE it's been very cold.
I have read what seems now like a gazillion threads on exhaust setups and the one thing that seemed to always be true, was theres no drone, and Borla's have that deep throaty muscle car sound. They cost a bit more but I personally would not settle for anything but. gl with your decision.

I had Borla Stingers on my '06 GT, and they sounded amazing....with the exception of the drone. It gave me a headache. So i sold them, and switched to Pypes Pypebomb axlebacks. I loved them! A drone was still present, but nowhere near as bad.

Another here with borla stingers. I wanted a gt so I could have that perfect mustang sound. I got the gt then I moved on to looking for exhaust. Borla will give you the perfect sound with almost no drone. They sound soooo good and the humongous chrome tips just fit the car perfectly.

I got the ford racing version, which I think is cool bc it has ford racing stamped instead of borla. And you can get them cheaper I think. Best money I've ever spent on my mustang. First mod. Best mod. I mean... I can't say enough
