same thing with motorcycles. Japanese bikes are fast and disposable. who bothers to restore them? no one. Well I am sure there is someone that does but as a whole there is no market for old Japanese bikes.

Old harleys, indians, etc will always be in demand just like old muscle cars.
I have to disagree with you there. ANY motorcycle that is from the early '80s or older and are in good-excellent shape are pulling some pretty good money. Just visit any vintage motorcycle show or look out on eBay. Whether it is American, British, German, Japanese (street or dirt), they are becoming more and more desirable. For example, a buddy of mine restored a '74 Honda XR75 dirtbike and sold it on eBay for $2400 recently (he bought it for $300). [/b][/quote]
Yeah, I second that. HDwrench, it is ignorant statements like yours which cause people like me to think that Harley guys are jerks.

I have an 85 V-max, my friend has an 83 (I think) Kawasaki Eliminator, they are both fast bikes, and he and I have both worked on them to restore them. They are still worth good money.

Sure, they aren't worth as much as Harleys, but then again they didn't cost as much to buy new as Harleys.

Sad but true. It's the same deal with today and the old folks listening to swing and jazz. Just think. The old folks will be listening to fiffy, and the younger generation will have newer, fast, even more profane music that us, the old people, will think it is "God awful noise".
I'm 27 and I already think that "stuff the kids are listening to" stinks. I mean really, who cares about the rims on your car....for the 1,00th time you told me...in the same song....

I remember when Hip hop was about story telling, not the art of celebrating the hopes for riches....sigh

i own a honda and a classic mustang. they are two completely different cars. my honda gets more attention on the streets from the younger crowd but my mustang gets more respect no matter who looks at it. hondas are only fast bc you put a 200hp engine in a 1700lb car and give it a final drive ratio of 4.26:1 and up and you will have a fast car. the shirt is really saying that with displacement is weight and vtec will take 2 smaller valves and get more a/f and compression while saving weight. to each their own i guess. i personally think even when my honda hits vtec and my exhaust is at its best, it still sounds horrible compared to my mustang at idle.

i still love the ricers that talk about HP per liter. like my 1.6L honda makes 90 HP per liter. where your big block only makes 70. so my engine is better WAWAWAWA. shame our crusty ol big block still makes 350 HP to your 140! LOL i mean who really cares how many HP per liter a motor makes? sure 100 HP per liter sounds all great until you say my engine is 1.6 liters!
well my honda is making 110hp per liter (2.2 liter) and my mustang is only making 80hp so i guess my honda wins. hmm not really haha. but still what honda makes in hp they slack in ft/lbs. i mean look at the RWD honda they made (S2000). 260hp, 150ft/lbs!!!!! what can you do with 150ft/lbs? nothing what a waste of a RWD car.

On a related note, Has anyone seen the new civics? I got the 'pleasure' of riding in my friends brand new Civic Si (that's the hideous hatchback (*cough* stationwagon *cough*))
on that comment, i have actually mistaken a honda oddessy(sp?) for a new SI, and vice versa at a glance

Civics and the like are disposable vehicles. They will never attain classic status. There's nothing about them that will make them appealing to the auto connoisseur. The shapes are not inspiring, the engines are weak, and they are for the most part pretty boring cars. The classic cars of the '50s and '60s, however, are very unique in their own way. Their looks stand the test of time, but Japanese 4-bangers are built for economy and will never be on the same level.

how does honda make the acura nsx get into supercar status with only a 3.2L V6, while the car weighs more than 3,100lbs. and 290hp/224trq???
i remember when i first heard of the nsx, i couldnt believe it was a V6 super car.

the NSX was also the only US Honda/Acura that was in the 13s stock. i believe they run a 13.1 with good traction. not to bad for a honda but not a supercar status compared to other cars hp vs hp.

That is one hot-looking engine.

I do see a lot of riced-out NSX's around town, though.

Does anybody consider the Magnum to be a muscle car? I know it's a station wagon, but it's better than a minivan...

Then again, most NSX buyers didn't buy them for a trip down the strip. They look great, and handle even better.

I remember when the first ones came out and the local dealer was asking and getting a $40K (yes, that's correct) premium over sticker. The idiots who paid that price are probably still sick about it. It serves them right.
