Dumb question: seatback setting

My 2013 GT has the 6 way power seats with manual seat rake adjustment. I have a touchy back and once I find a comfortable setting I'd like to go back to it. If I have to access the back seat and I move the seat back, it defaults to a near vertical position. How can I return the seat back to the original setting consistantly? My '98 F-150 does just what I want. I want to just push it back and have it stop where I had it originally. I told you it was dumb.

Well I guess you could get a protractor, a compass, a plumb bob and a calculator and make a seat back angle pattern from a large piece of material by establishing the gravitational center line of the planet and finding the deviant variations between the seat cushion and the properly adjusted back angle...er... f that!

I just go into the back seat from the passenger side.

I have a similar problem, but on my '06, there's that little strap that is supposed to hold the seat belt for easy convenience (which I don't use that strap, but still.)

I use that as a barometer when I'm moving my seat back from accessing the rear compartment. It folds "just so" and I know it's in the right position.

I don't know if the '13 has this little strap though. Just my particular method anyway.

I used to use visual cues related to the seat back and the console armrest, and that worked pretty good too. Just the strap is easier to see.

I'm with you Junkman9096. I have no idea why Ford made these seats like this. I also purposely avoid going into the back seat from the driver's side so I don't lose my 'perfect' seating position. Probably my biggest complaint about the Mustang other than no trunk release from the interior on my '07. It's pretty bad when my 13 year old Trans Am has both seat retention and an inside trunk release. Even my '87 SS doesn't lose the seat position. I can't think of a single car I owned that did this to be honest. I don't even recall my 1982 Mustang GT having this issue. Ford gets on this.

I have thought about going into the seat mechanism and blocking the notches that the latch drops into when you fold it back. This way it would drop to your position.....but not usable for those that want another position....like the better half. It is really irritating.

Same here! Once I find the sweet spot, I don't like moving it.

I thought I was the only one that found this annoying. I'm the same, I try to avoid going into the back using the drivers side. Dayum Ford, you can do better than that......

Interesting, I find that when I drive for any length of time I like to change the angle of the back, for comfort. When I drive local I like it more straight up, when I'm on the highways I like to lean it back a bit.

Did this even when I had the Corvette, which had a memory program that remembered the exact seat location, mirror locations, steering wheel location.

My wife's (horror!) Acura TL, which cost within a few bucks of my GT, has all that and is activated by use of the key fob. I have the occasional bout of sciatica, which is held off by my seat position. Seat a little forward, seat back angled back a bit-both take pressure off the lower back. The difference is having a leg go tingly or numb in an hour or driving pretty much all day pain free. Well, thanks. Bad move by you, Ford.

I can't help but mention one of my biggest peeves again... the service folks that move the seat every way possible for the 20 yard drive into the bay.

Same complaint here, really wish my '14 GT had the preset positioning. I'm stuck at the moment in an apartment with no place to wash or wax car (no access to hose even), so have to take it to the touchless hand wash. Takes a couple days to find the sweet spot again after they move it all over to clean. Curse of short legs but tall torso, hard to find the right positioning since the wheel doesn't telescope.

My seat is all the way back due to my size. If a short service person has to move the car, I hope they adjust the seat so they can reach the pedals and see over the dash. My service writer always returns it close to correct.
