The difference between ricers and us is 4 more cylinders.

No offense to the v6 owners.

True in some cases. With a higher displacement motor you have more torque. It's easier to add HP to a motor then it is to add torque. The best scenario is to have a high torque motor and power adders to get more HP in the lightest body you can.

Ricers have a weight advantage to our cars but no motor to over come its weight. My Mustang is heavier then a Honda but my 302 cubic inch motor has it on HP and torque. I would win. My motor has the ability to over come the weight it is pulling.

Not saying a Honda that is turbo and sprayed won't win. Just look what they had to do to take on a very lightly moded 66 mustang. If I spent a fraction of what they spent on their cars like on an intake, headers, and ete... They will have a very hard time keeping up turbo, sprayed, or not.

There is no replacement for displacement.

Id be confident in my cobras ability on an atuoX or a road course. and i agree that generalizng all imports as ricers is wrong, but so is saying that drag racing isnt "real" racing. You're being just as ignorant as those who call your s2000 rice. Sorry if this comes off angry/spiteful, but I thought it had to be said.

When I said ricers I was talking about rice boys with wings and ete.... Not all imports.
The Honda was an example. Faster also mening in a straight line. Like a quarter mile. Which I love. So please don't say that track racing is the only real racing that is a matter of opnion.

Not trying to start a fight just givin my 2 cent in on the subject.

I do like that form of racing it's cool. I watch it on Speed all the time. I persnally when I get a chance drag at the drag way here in Charleston. It's alot of fun. Whats funny is the 80's foxes with suped up 5.0s dominate out here.

a car, as far as im concened, that is fast, should be fast in all aspects of racing, beit at the quarter, the autoX, etc...A "FAST" should be fast no matter what, but there are exceptions, such as drag cars taht are made to go in a straight line. Kind of a touchy subject i guess.

i personally dont like small displacment cars for one reason: its not what i want.
there are some ppl who like Japenese cars and whatnot and im cool with that. in fact, one of my best friends drives a neon SRT4. he wants his car to be fast, but he hates rice. n im cool with that. i just dont want it for me.

what i do hate is when crappy bodykits and bad winges are put on a car for an "all show and no go" configuration and all the while advertising a speed car.

like i have no problem witha nice lookin car thats a cruiser or just built to listen to tunes or sothing. i hate ppl who do that but then act like there car is fast.

same thing w/ ppl. i hate ppl who act tough but arent and they dont try hard enough. especially in football (there was this one lil **** who acted like he was the shiznit, but he couldnt do crap). despite that i dont have a problem with some one who cant perform as well but still gives it their all on the field.

im going on and on againarent i

nothing against imports, before my 73 Mach 1 i had an MR2 supercharged with about as much in modifications as were available. even with the supercharged motor, albeit small displacement, not much torque anywhere. i would have to rev to redline to get any real performance out of it but that gets old real quick and draws the attention of the police. and if you shifted below 5000rpm the performance suffered ( you honda S2000 drivers know what i'm talking about) greatly. nope, nothing like a V8 with lots of torque and horsepower. with a V8 you really don't have to sacrifice one for the other and since most driving (except on the tracks) is done at moderate rpm i like to have the torque reserves to accelerate quickly from say 55mph without having to downshift 3 gears and drive my car like i hated it. just my 2 cents worth.

I learned to drive a stick shift on a 1984 Bumble-Bee Yellow Toyota Corolla--Four door. Man, what an ugly car, but at last check, it was still on the road with over 200000 miles on it.

I guess the way that I look at it is a car guy is a car guy. When I was in highschool, it was the camaro people versus the mustang guys versus the MOPAR guys. Now is is the neon versus the non-neon.

Would I drive a car with a 6 foot wing? No, not unless it was a Superbird! However, even the stuff that I don't like intrigues me. It takes skill to do many of those mods and skill impresses me--electronics, bodywork, paint, engine mods. I guess that is why I'm drawn, like a moth to flame, to PIMP MY RIDE. What those guys can do with a beater car is amazing.

So, I guess I'm live and let live. A car person is a car person.

Mav--

I certainly appreciate a good driver in any car. Put my butt in a the passenger seat of a s2000 and slap me on an autoX course with a 9 grand red line, I'd crap my pants but have a huge smile on my face all the way around! It'd be fun.

I'd like to see the looks on the kids faces that had their cars "pimped" when they find out how much 22" tires cost. Or when they have an electrical problem and all of their 8 monitors stop working. That show is a joke. If you cover a piece of crap with 30000$, all you have is a 30000$ piece of crap.

yeah its pretty ridiculous what they do on the MTV show; some guy had a pretty decent NISSAN and they turned it into something ridiculous... they could have made it real sleek looking but... yeah they put in something like three xboxes and 6 TVs... kinda unessecary

Let the Ricers be; that's a totally different niche—I get respect from Ricers; Camaro owners are the ones I despise

Oh and for S2000 having enough Torque.... no it doesn't it has very little power at low RPM; same goes for the RX8; I don't see how these cars are practical for regular street driving
