- You could have a 427 dealer installed as an option in 1967 and 1968.

- The IRS used Mustangs in the late 80's as Special Service vehicles. (I think that one is best left untouched.)

- The 429 could be ordered in the 72 and 73 Mustangs. They were extremely super-rare and were only rated (or should I say way underrated ) at 175 HP for insurance purposes.

Just a few interesting tid bits of info

Its on www.vintage-mustang.com

Also my manager Jeff is a big Mustang freak like me and filters some knowledge down to me from time to time. He grew up in that era. He's the guy I was telling you guys about that owned a 1968 Shelby GT500 KR vert.

He also had a really neat 1970 Pontiac GTO 400 Ram Air IV (very rare), and a 1970 Ford Torino Cobra, and an all original 1987 Buick GNX, and.... I could go on forever on the cars he's had.

I used to subscribe to Mustang Monthly and they had a fact or fiction article and they had the 427 Mustang myth listed as fiction.

Yep its real alright. Just very very rare. Rumor has it you could also get a 428 dealer installed in the S-code Mustangs in 1967. My other manager and I are researching into that to see if its real or not.

OT - I used to have a 66 Mustang "beater" that had a 351W crammed in it. Second car I ever owned (this was back in '79). At the time, it was the fastest car on North side Indianapolis. Rust Bucket, many problems, fenders would flap in the wind, trunk was un-useable, floorboard was going out, etc. But the fun only lasted a few months, cracked the block and I ended up junking it at WRECKS, Inc and ended up buying a 68 Tempest.

I don't know how I survived those days.

PS - Zoran, how do you like your truck? Have you put bigger tires on yet?

I've never heard of a 429 being offered in the 72-73... I don't think any book I have read has an engine code for that model year.

Has a legit "W" code '67 Mustang been located yet?
