how to remove panel on deck lid

Which model year/body style? That'd help greatly. For example, the '05-09 deck lid cover for the lock and 3rd brake light is simply yanked off, gently, but still. Held on by clips, and they're pretty strong. You will likely ruin the tabs where the clips go, because they're quite sharp pointy clips holding that tab, so you'll want to move the clip in the slot on the deck lid over to a new piece of real estate to grab on the tab. And/or you'll want to re-bend the sharp pointy bits to make sure they bite good, possibly.

I'm not a fan of those clips. They also can't be bought separately, but you get new ones with a new trim panel, if you were to buy one... if they're even available now... I just figured it out and got it put back on good... for now. I suspect at some point, if I have to take it of a couple more times, I'll wind up putting trim screws with the fancy washers through the thing because there won't be much else you can do...

Oooh... maybe I'll figure out how to put snaps like an old style convertible boot cover on the piece and snap it in that way. Yeah. That'd be pretty trick. May can do it so the outside doesn't show it....

OR... hear me out now... magnets. Them *really* strong ones. How do they even work though?
