Air filter

Is the K&N replacement air filter worth buying? Or is the performance the smd as the stock paper air filter?

I'm curious what others will say as I'm considering one. I think one of the bigger benefits is that it never needs replacing, just cleaning. Not sure about performance increases.

I may be wrong, but I swear I've seen a dyno sheet for that had around 4-6 less RWHP measured with the K&N drop-in filter over the OEM paper filter. This was done on a 2011-14 GT.

I believe it was because the K&N filter does in fact clean the intake air more efficiently than the stock filter, but flows less.

I'll try and find the thread and link it.

Edit: Take this with a grain of salt until I find my source lol

My K & N filter is sitting in the corner of my garage, still unused and will stay there. It was put in by the Ford dealer when they installed my shaker hood back in '07 when the car was new. Special oil needed? Has to be applied right or cause issues?? The oil costs money?? NO THANKS!! The Ford paper filter is the only way to go for me. No issues whatsoever and I think I can swing a few $$ every once in awhile to buy one. If I am missing out on an infinitely small HP increase, I don't care. I have my doubts about that anyway.

Save your money, as you will gain nothing over the paper stock filter. Ford has done a good job with the stock airbox & filter.
There was a dyno test performed between the K & N & stock filter & as posted above, the stock performed better. Test was posted on SVT forum.

I gotta agree with the others. Had one in another vehicle, didn't do anything but cost more money. Stick with the original type filter.
