8.8 pinion bearing

So I was cutting off the pinion bearing and put a gash in the pinion shaft. Will this affect anything?

i would not be concerned with a small gash .. you still would have 98 % of a good surface ..

The new pinion bearing will cover it once its pressed back on. Any thoughts of it being of balanced or bearing failure?

it has such a small spin radius i would not be concerned with balance .. i have yet to see evidence of balancing on any ring and pinions i have installed over the years ...

I would reuse it!
Will probably never affect anything.

It will be fine. Although I am curious why you were cutting the bearing off??

How are you putting the differential back together?

just make sure you remove any rises/burrs before reassembly
