2011+ Mustang Rental Fleet

A lot of the rental fleets around the country offer the Mustang in both coupe and vert forms. With the upcoming 2011+ Mustangs having such a large increase in HP I wonder if it will be the end of rental Mustangs. What are the chances the Hertz will allow a 315ish HP base V6 Mustang out as a rental? It may become a limited by number and location deal like they did with the Shelby GT-H. I have always enjoyed going away on vacation and getting a rental vert to cruise around in, I refuse to drive a convertible PT Cruiser so I might be left with a Sebring as my only choice.

Any thoughts?

Agreed. When I travel for pleasure I try to always get a V6 vert or (depending on availability) a GT-H. I hope that Hertz continues to offer the 2011 Stang as an option, both in its standard rental fleet (coupe) and its "Fun" group (vert). Though a new 2011 GT-H would be an amazing rental!

Don't you mean 315 HP...or did I miss something?

Well, as you can rent a v6 Camaro, I'm sure you'll be able to rent a v6 Mustang.

Besides, Ford must sell thousands of Mustangs to the rental companies, and I'm sure these agreements are signed 12 months in advance.

But I can't wait for a 2011 GT/H

So... what convertibles that are rental car compatible (meaning not terribly expensive) would you wind up with? Mind, a 2+2 is about bare minimum for the category, with a Miata like 2 seater being the other type.

Mustang V6
Solara I4... no... they're done, aren't they?
Sebrings... they gonna be around next year?
Mini Cooper... teeny, but maybe...
Pontiac G6... again, gonna be around?
Beetle... yeah.
Eos probably a little expensive.
C70... again, 'spensive.

The list is from here:
http://www.motortrend.com/new_cars/0...les/index.html

And is a year out of date, probably, in models available, and doesn't yet include 2011s, but the idea of what's available is there.

There are others (Miata, Sky) that don't qualify exactly because they're 2 seaters, and many others (Corvette, Ferarris) that are 'spensive as hell.

So... no, I don't think Mustang's going anywhere for the 'vert rent fleet, because there's not that much out there in the first place. The Mustang coupe, perhaps, yeah, that could be fading.

/Then again, Hertz did do the GT thing a couple times...

IMO, that's the answer.

Companies rent 304hp Camaro V6's, why not 315hp Mustangs?
