2005 Convertible Side Rail Replacement

I'm new to the Mustang community, since I just purchased a nice 2005 Vert this past June. A bolt came loose on one of my convertible top side rails and then it sheared off. This ended up bending one of my side rails. I managed to get the top back down and then took it to my favorite mechanic ... Full time auto mechanic with lots of Ford knowledege & family friend. He looked at it and then called Ford to find parts. The Ford people said it is not repairable and I need to buy a "set" of side rails, they don't sell just one side. This of course is very expensive fix for my new toy ... supposed to be a fun car. I'm looking for advice. Can I buy a new side rail from a knock off Mfg ? Should I look for a crashed car for parts ? Can I take this apart and send it to someone to fix or do I really have to buy a set of side rails ? Please let me know if anyone has had a similar experience and or knows what to do
