1-ADAM-12

Been watching some old Adam-12 shows on Netflix. They're a hoot but it's great seeing all the old autos. I am especially pleased with how many Mustangs are seen in most every episode. There is one light green pony that I see a lot. Must be a movie prop cause it's always parked. There is one really nice bronze color '69 Mach-1 that appears from time to time also.

Sounds good Kevin!

If I am ever able to access & watch the old shows, I will look for the Mustangs too!

Thanks,

Phil

I'm the same way with old shows and movies too. Helps me watch 'chick flicks' with my wife by looking for old cars. I just have to remember not to blurt out, "Did you see that Mustang!!" during a sad scene.

Too funny Dave. But you, and me saw those Mustangs on Adam 12 when they were still new. And the sad thing is, we couldn't afford one back then.

If your talking about the Brown coupe with the white top, that was Malloy's personal ride in the '69/'71 run.

Could have been that Ford was one of their sponsors back then. That happened a lot back in the day and the car makers made sure they were well represented. Later in Adam 12's run, AMC was a sponsor and Pete bought a brand new '74 AMC Matador (the goggle-eyed one). Wrecked his new car doing some off-duty police stuff. Doesn't change now either, to wit: Transformer movies. Good Transformers=GM. Bad Transformers=Saleen Mustangs

Too true. Couldn't afford my first one until 1982. Until that time though you will enjoy my post below.

Oh yeah, now you're talking. Here's my '74 Matador when I lived in FL back in the day. Had a 304 and rode sweet!!

^^^That's one wide ride Dave. They weren't much in the looks department though.

I remember when AMC came out with the Concord, they gave every Mayor in towns named Concord one to drive. Our Mayor's son totaled his about six weeks later. Took a lickin', but couldn't keep tickin'.

Never heard that story about the Concord. That's really something, and quite cool (even if the car itself wasn't much). I would have liked to have been a mayor of a town called Javelin

I remember that Matador in the Bond movie The Man With the Golden Gun. The evil Scaramanga drove that one!

To keep the thread on the Mustang topic...this reminds me of another Bond movie -- On Her Majesty's Secret Service and the Mach 1 in that was just like a family friend's.

When I think of it, I've had a slow drip of Mustangs all my life. Product placement works!

Yeah, the Bond movies had strong emphasis in their films with the car companies that sponsored them. Very noticeable which companies gave them the $$$. That movie you mentioned was full of AMC cars.

The Bond movie "Diamonds Are Forever" prominently featured a sweet red Mustang.
