Just watched Lynyrd Skynyrd on HDnet in 1080i and Dolby Digital, OMG, freakin' awesome, hearing Freebird just makes me tear up when it starts up. The most awesome song ever. The band was great with the survivors, Van Zant's little brother, and the new guys. That just made my 4th of July!!!

That would have been sweet to see Kid Rock is here he has this new tune that he incorps sweet home Alabama & sorry cant think of the other tune mixed with it but Skynard ROCKS !

I have to agree with you about Freebird Gary. Even my 19 year old son thinks it is the best song ever (and he usually listens to rap). He likes it so much he has it as his ringback tone on his cell.

I was in a band that plated alt rock about 10 or 12 years ago. I was bass player. Anyway the standing joke with all bands, especially in the south is that at some point during the gig during a relatively quiet moment between songs a drunk in the audience will yell out "Play some Skynyrd!!!". It never failed to happen at every gig we ever played. "Play some Skynyrd!" It just cracks me up thinking about it. If you're gonna play in a rock band in the south, you had better know how to play "Freebird" or wing it somehow.
