Slow Page Loads? Let us know here....
It's a bit of a shot in the dark but let's give it a try and see what happens.
Thanks!
Have you tried this in another browser to see if it happens there too? If it only happens in one try going to our forum homepage https://themustangsource.com and logging out. Then press CTRL+F5. This will clear out the cache the browser has for this site. Then try logging back in and see if it's still happening.

For example, the StangMods.com image is 19.9K
The F150Forum.com image (which is just temporary as we bring more vendors on) is 5.9K
The three MOTM images are a total of 28k - ish
So, that sidebar added a total of 53.8 kilobytes of data to each pageload.
That amount of data isn't even noticeable on most internet connections and some user's avatars are larger than that. But let's break it down further.
Only 1.5% of our users are on dialup or slower so that means the vast majority are on DSL, Cable, T1, or some other sort of broadband connection. Even 3G cell service is several Mbps but let's be ultra conservative and say the average is 1.5Mbps for users. There may be a few people with slower 512K dsl speeds but I would think the vast majority would actually have more than 1.5Mbps (I have 18Mbps) but lets run with that number.
@ 1.5Mbps 53.8 kilobytes would download in roughly 0.33 Seconds.
If you do have 512Kbps internet connection it loads in about 1 second.
That's why I can't wrap my brain around people saying their pages are a lot slower with the ads. There's just not that much data there.
So, what else could be causing slower page loads? Well... a slow server could. But I can tell you we went way over board on this server to make sure this site is fast. We are the ONLY site on a really high end server and we have a 1Gbps connection. We are also hosted in a well connected data center that is right in the middle of the country (Dallas). So, I highly doubt it's that server that is the issue.
That leaves the end users Browser/PC or the route which the ISP is taking to get to our server which is out of our control.
I'm trying to figure out the problem here but as I said I just can't wrap my brain around it. I've been doing this a long time and this doesn't add up.
We keep all the ad images small to make sure page loads are not effected by them.

I don't know that its the file size of the ads, but it seems to cause a "multi-delivery" of a few items at a time rather than the page completing in one action. Often with hang-ups in between where it just died and I'm looking at a black page. So I have to hit refresh and request it all over again.
As to the servers between me and you, your server and Hughes, that random route is true with all sites I surf. So it keeps coming back to why is TMS loading slow and often in fragments when at that moment the other 4 or 5 tabs I'm surfing load promptly (nothing loads instantly with Hughes so that's why I said promptly
).As to the ctrl/F5 thing, is that any different than when I go thru tools and delete all browsing history, cookies, etc.?
Thanx for your efforts in trying to figure this out. There were times the old TMS was giving me hitches but after a number of attempts Scothew and others seem to have figured it out and had been working very smooth for me for months. Now I'm back to the difficult loading - and actually worse.

The CTRL+F5 command clears your browsers cache for a site and that is a little different than clearing cookies and history but doing it all can't hurt. The cache thing fixes a lot of strange issues I've run into but it's not necessarily going to work here. Once again, just trying hit something that could be causing it since I'm not experiencing it.
I'll keep digging. I'm just confused.
