The search function sucks
I've got a couple of grievances about the search function. I think search is a vital feature that helps cut down on repetitive questions that annoy many people. Next week I plan to install the 3.73 gears and a UDP. However if I try to search for "3.73" or "UDP" I get 0 search results. It seems that the search word has to be over 4 characters long. This seems silly to me, outsource the search to google if your servers can't handle it (I think that is free). The other issue with the search involves returning results from people's signatures. The words in the signature don't have any relationship to the topic, and should not be part of the search. This leads to many results that have nothing to do with the query. I hope this can be rectified, it’s a shame that all the wealth of information in this forum can’t be searched properly.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Hey Rocket88. I tried these queries and other combinations, but they are more specific than than the simple search I was after. However you're suggestion with google is spot on. I tried "udp site:forums.bradbarnett.net" and got what I was looking for. However, now I get results from all the different forum sections including the marketplace. Is there a way to search a specific section of the forum with google?
Thanks,
Mike.
Thanks,
Mike.

Google searches all text on the page--posts, signatures, user names, user location, etc. I'm working on our search function now. Give me a little while to get it right.

Thanks Brad. This is awesome CUSTOMER SERVICE if the term applies. I think when I was serching for "CMDP" some time back I got results from signatures. However, I tried to verify this now and it returned zero results. I will let you know if I find an example that returns results from the signatures.
