PMs dissapearing?

I just got an e-mail saying I had a PM here on TMS. It included the body of the PM, so luckily I got to read it. I came here, expecting to see the PM and be able to reply, but lo and behold it isn't here. What happened to my PM?

EDIT: Thanks for the move! Now can anyone provide some insight?

I thought about this some more and here's what might have happened: (I've done this before so I know it's plausible)

The sender drafted the PM and sent it.
The server notified you of the PM which included the body of the text.
The sender deleted the PM after server notification.
You arrived to view the PM and it wasn't there.

I'd like to know more about this if you don't mind.

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. Here is a copy of the email I received (minus the actual body of the PM)

That is an email, not a PM notification.

Doh!

Well I still can't access any of my old stored PMs if that makes a difference!

I feel silly now. I'm going to go...elsewhere.
