For some reason or another, I keep getting logged out of the site? Any ideas? I have'nt been around for awhile, has something changed that I should know about?

Select the "Remember me?" option when you log in.

Ok, I'll try that. It's just weird, I'll log in, or at least think I'm in, then go to post a reply or edit my profile, etc,etc ,and a message will pop up saying that I must log in before I can go any further.....

Yup the site will log you out after a period of time. I don't mind that, but the period of time seems too short.

And for some reason if I log on through aol I'll get logged out pretty much immediately, which doesn't happen with other browsers.

Ok, so as long as I leave the "remember me" boxed checked I can stay logged in, however, if I just try and sign in without the box checked it will boot me off. I thought the "remember me" was just a covenience option when gettin on to the site so you did'nt have to sign in all the time. Anyhoo, I'll just keep it checked and when I delete cookies etc, have to remember to check the box. By the way, thanks for the input 1 BULLITT.
It's good to be back!

Need a "keep me logged on" option -- the auto logoff is too quick

I agree with all the above statements. I do not want the system to remember my password.

I can hardly post any response that requires any thought--much less thought with spelling checking and punctuation checking!

PLEASE FIX THIS! It is annoying!

You guys realize that ive changed nothing on the sites end right? The session timeout default is 15min, which to me is more than enough. I changed it to 30min so if you cant make a post in that amount of time..... use MS word or something first.

I know for sure that it was no where close to 15m...were talkn minutes .I just resorted to leaving the "remember me" box checked, not a big deal for me, but I suppose it may to some if it's shared computer maybe?

I'm still happy to be gettin back into the family

I know for sure it was at 900seconds.. divide that by 60.

Maybe you had a bad cookie or something else funky going on.

I can't even log on through aol. The site says I'm on, but it won't allow me to post anything or visit my profile. I have to use internet explorer. I completely agree that you get logged out way too fast!

Anymore I use Explorer all the time. If it weren't for the 10,000 things I have in my favorites etc (7 years worth!), I'd dump aol completely in a heart beat.

Hey thanks for changing that! For me the issue was not how long it takes to post, but getting totally submersed in reading, especially seached stuff, then moving to a thread I want to respond to and having to log in again. Thanks, 30 ought to do it!

If I have the box checked, I can come in and out of the site with no problems I can post, reply, etc etc and remain logged in,however If I do not want the system to remember me(box unchecked) and "manually" log in, within seconds, the site does not recognize that I ever logged in, even though it told me I had successfully logged in just seconds before that. Does that make sense? Its got me stumped.

If you guys/girls are running any third-party pop-up blockers, cookie cleaners, BlackICE firewall, Norton Internet Security, etc. then your session timeout will be drastically reduced. (i.e. You get logged out faster) Try disabling that software or service and test it out. Also, if you are on an extremely slow or "spotty" connection you can and will be logged out to protect your account from hijacking.
