When you get a e mail about a post being updated, is there a way for it to do what the old format used to?...It went to the first UNREAD post, now it directs you to the very beginning of the thread!

hmm. Mine don't do that. It goes to the first unread post. (at least I think it does)

I would love to see the unread posts stay highlighted as many others have mentioned.

It should go to first unread post unless you are running sometype of odd browser or personal firewall software.

Maybe it's just me, but some of the icon gifs aren't showing up. I get red x's there also. Like the "Reply" gif, or the "Go to first new post". The computer at work is fine, the computer at home though, not. Is there a setting in IE 6 that I'm missing?

In IE click on Tools --> Internet Options --> and in the Temporary Internet Files field click Delete Files. This should force your browser to reload all the missing graphics.

So the 20 or so links to old posts that I have bookmarked may still work at some point? I really hope so since there was a lot of good info in those posts...

Is this even a possibility that you guys are considering? It makes it very hard to navigate a forum this big when it makes all threads set as "Read"

Tried logging out and deleting my cookies. Now it shows that there are new posts even though I have already read the newest posts. And If i leave it for a while, then come to the forum, it still sets everything as "read" except the topics which have been posted in since i left.

Is basing the "read" or "unread" status just an unchangable characteristic of Vbulletin? Or is it a possibility to change Vbulletin to base the status on whether or not the actual thread was visited since its most recent post?

If it is a characteristic of Vbulletin, then im not so sure that this new forums is an improvement, if it is a characteristic, then it seems as though Vbulletin will only really work for smaller, less complex forums.

Well the board has lost most of my activity until this issue gets fixed. Its just too hard to navigate when it assumes that I read everything on the board every time I visit.

People who are having "thread read" issues, please tell me:

What browser you are using.
What firewall you are using.
What OS you are using.

Just for reference, I am running XP SP2 with IE 6 latest service release with ZERO issues. The only firewall I have is a Netgear Wireless router sitting behind my T1 connection.
