Trying to upgrade hp and sound for under 1000$

I just got my first mustang. Its a 2001 v6 automatic and i want to upgrade the horsepower and get a nice powerful sound from it. I was told to get an RAI, a performance chip, and an exhaust system.. Im looking to spend at most 1000$ so does anybody have any ideas as to what parts and brands i should put into it?

There is a V6 area over in the SN95 section, this has been asked enough so there will be no problem finding some recent posts and coming up with info when searching.
