TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM

TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM
greetings, I am new to this forum and I just became the proud owner of a 2008 mustang. I noticed that the yellow tire symbol is always on, and even when I had all the tires removed, the lights stays on! I welcome suggestions on how to diagnosis the tire pressure monitoring system.

Welcome and the tpms is on when you have low tire pressure or a bad sensor. You need to take it to a shop if you don't have the tool. And they can test each sensor to see which one is bad if it's that. First I would make sure the tire pressure is at the correct psi. If there is a tire under pressure fill it and sometimes it takes the light off right away and sometimes it will take driving it for a few miles.

Welcome to the forum
I'm pretty sure that means the TPMS system in the car, is not receiving the expected signal from the sensors inside the wheels. Could be:

I'm pretty sure that means the TPMS system in the car, is not receiving the expected signal from the sensors inside the wheels. Could be:
- the car has aftermarket wheels and the previous owner did not buy/install the TPMS sensors
- the TPMS sensor(s) have gone dead -- they have a battery inside, and like all batteries, they do not last forever

I actually just purchased 4 new tires, and had all the tires off the car while I replaced the front end , brakes and rotors. I was just surprised that the yellow tire light was on even though I didn't have the tires on the car!

That happens it's pretty much like wifi it only recieves the signal within a certain distance. Just like bert said maybe they were not installed. Also they could be damaged if the tires are not put on right if they are there because if I remember correctly they are the belt style not the ones on the valve stems.

Yeah, they have a great big like hose clamp securing them in the low part of the rim opposite the stem originally. Our '08 still has OEM batteries but only 34K miles, so mileage maybe affects battery life. I'll put tape over the light if ever an issue maybe, or maybe new sensors? My '07 F-150 has the same, they too have OEM batteries at near 75K miles ... so?

Hello. Most likely you just need to check the sensors on the tires, this can be done in a service center. They are either damaged or the battery needs to be replaced. My co-worker had a similar problem with the motor trader, only one sensor failed, he replaced all of them, and then found out that only one had broken down. So you need to check everything, because these wireless systems are so dark.
