Starting back from Zero

How's it going, everyone? My name is Chris and I live in the 804 area of Virginia. It actually an interesting story about how I decided to go with a Mustang.

My first car was a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP(I called it "Warchief") that I got for $4000 while I was stationed in Hawaii with the Marine Corps. That was back in July of 2009. We went through many a mile together and I loved that machine. Put it through hell driving around the 804(If you have ever driven around here, you know how terrible the drivers are here) and it came out like a champ every time.

At the end of January, this series of events happened in order: I got the Warchief stolen from me(still has not been found as of this posting), then lost my job at the time(door to door sales needs a car), then lost everything else(cell phone, apartment, credit score, etc.).

A GM loyalist at the time, I swore I would replace the Warchief with a better car, with more horsepower than the 210 I was working with and with better gas mileage than 24 mpg(I was after a liquid red Pontiac G8 for a while. It had the horses, but not the mpg). I forget how I came across the 2012 Mustangs, but at some point I ended up reading about them on Edmunds.com and decided to take a closer look at them.

To make a long story short, I was gradually sold on the new Mustangs, despite the fact that they are -all over- the friggin place here. And the deciding factor in my choice to buy one was actually a split second image that came through my mind while I was sleeping. The image was this:

2012 V6 Premium Mustang. I would love a V8, but I am guaranteed to kill myself with any more speed than I will have with the V6. And 305 HP combined with "up to" 31 MPG is always a winner in my book with the fuel prices being what they are.

Color- Kona Blue with custom orange racing stripes. Because I will be a Denver Broncos fan forever. And on that note, it's a shame that Ford doesn't offer more stripe colors.

Lights- HID. Because I'm blind in one eye and I can't see out of the other one. Especially at night. Even more especially when other HID's are pointed at me.

Seats- If possible, I'm going to find a place that will hook up custom blue and orange seats. If not, I'll go with the saddle leather. After all, I am riding a horse ;-)

Package- The Mayhem Performance Package(that is, if I can connect with anyone who knows how to get that set up through Ford. I intend to buy directly online). Because it matches my generally aggressive acceleration/ cornering style perfectly.

Plates- CRAZHRS(Crazy Horse) Because 1) I am a Broncos fan and 2) Call me odd, but I believe every man ought to keep some memory of his first car with every car he has afterward, and CRZHRS is my way of doing so.

Shades(Yes. I'm even going to have sunglasses to go with this car)- Oakley "Oil Rig" with shadow camo stems, Ice Iridium lenses, and Team Orange O logos.

For now, I'm driving around in my girlfriend's 1999 Honda Accord till I get my credit score back to pre-approval status(The plan is to sell my *** off at the new job and be pre approved before my birthday). At that point, it's game on. I'll let the community know how everything goes.

First let me say thank you so much for defending our country! And second it seems like you have it all figured pretty well, good luck with getting your "crazyhorse". I'm sure you will have a blast.

I appreciate it, Quicksilver! I figure if I had as much fun as I did driving around a supercharged sedan from the first part of last decade, then a 2012 coupe should be 95 hp more fun!

And actually, on that whole note, I got a couple of questions for those wha are smarter than me.

Does anyone know of a place in the 804 who can do a couple of custom orange racing stripes if I go with a Kona Blue scheme?

And what do we all thing about Lava Red vs Kona Blue in the first place? I just saw what Lava Red is all about and I still don't think I've collected my entire jaw from the deck yet.
