Received my 2005 Mustang GT
Hello, again, all! Today I finally took delivery of my first Ford, a Sonic Blue 2005 Mustang GT! First of all, a note of thanks. It was the advice of all the helpful folks here that pointed me towards the Mustang, and after doing my own research, decided to go with it.
My impressions, this car ROCKS! This post is so late because I've been out all afternoon and evening driving it!
The acceleration and "Seat of the Pants" factor on this is light-years ahead of anything I've ever driven. I love this car!
As for the troubles that people have been reporting, this car was actually built some time ago. I have not had the chance to try filling up, so I'll report back if it has the fuel tank issue. First thing I did upon inserting the key was check the Shaker stereo version. It is a Shaker "A", but it has handled two store bought CD's without skips, misses, or ejections. I'll try MP3 CD-ROM's tomorrow and report the results.
Now, the note of caution. I was supposed to pick this car up yesterday. However, when I got there, the remote key fobs wouldn't work. The mechanic who looked at it immediately (I hadn't even driven it off the lot at this point) found water in the passenger side footwell. It turns out that the cowl panel on the front passenger side has sealing washers (part number 9FOAM0) underneath the trim pins which were not sealing (the washers, that is). This allowed water to leak into the passenger compartment directly over the SMART module which controls most of the cars on-board electronics. It shorted out only the remote key fob function. They dried me out immediately (it was the predelivery wash that got water in, so it hadn't been sitting for a long time), tightened the washers, applied sealant compound, overnighted a new SMART module, and now everything works. Everyone, you may want to have this problem checked out, because if it leaks here, it is right over this computer module, which if it shorts out for you may cause more than just the key fob to malfunction.
However, my car is now problem free (except for a very heavy object that keeps coming to rest on the gas pedal
), and I think this is the start of a beautiful friendship. Thanks again, you guys are the best. Sorry for the long winded post, but I thought you guys might want to know about this issue. See you out there!
And lest I forget, I believe this is the tradition here...

EDIT: I almost forgot. While driving around and looking for a spot to turn around, we happened upon another Ford dealership (Bickford Motors, for those in the Seattle area). Anyway, as we were turning around, my wife says "Oh, look, 4 V6's all lined up." I look, and sure enough, 4 V6's... Wait a minute... What does that say over the windshield??? "No, honey, that's 4 Saleens all lined up." If anyone wants one, they have at least 4 on the lot.

Yep, that's the place! You can't see it, but to the left of the screenshot you took is their regular lot, which is where I turned around. Looking at the front of them you originally think "V6" because they don't have the center foglamps. Then the windshield sticker gives it away...
