Old member returning, this time with an 88 5.0 Coupe!

Well, it took me close to 20 years, but I finally found a nice original 5.0 Coupe!

We picked it up in East TN last weekend. Drove it all the way home to Huntsville, AL and it did great! As long as I got home fine, that was the goal. I've already got the interior ripped out and everything new has been ordered, back to original Regatta Blue & Black, with a 6 point roll cage from Maximum Motorsports, that I ordered this week. Most of my new interior pieces should be here this week. I'd like to keep my A/C, but there a bunch of vacuum lines under the hood that are garbage, most are broken... I've ordered a new heater core and A/C evaporator and have most of the dash taken out to replace those. I was debating on removing the whole dash or not? Plans for her are, a new built Stroker 347 with a built T5z trans next Summer. Only body mods I'm planning on doing are, possibly a steel 2" cowl hood and replacing the fogged smoked headlights. It's going to be a street car/weekend cruiser & occasional show car

It had all of the following on it when I bought it:
Corbeau GTS II Black Microsuede Seats (too uncomfortable for me, I'm 6'5")
3G alternator
5 lug conversion
03 Cobra wheels 17x9 +26mm OS, 6.02 inch BS
Tires: 225/50 Rear, 215/55 Front
94/95 Cobra 4 wheel disc brakes
3.73 gears
Hanlon Motorsports T5
Hurst Shifter
Unknown Race (no cats) X-Pipe
Flowmaster Mufflers (quiet)
Smoked Headlights and Taillights

Maximum Motorsports Road & Track Box (Parts in kit listed below):
Maximum Motorsports full frame subframe connectors
Maximum Motorsports rear control arms
Maximum Motorsports K-member brace
Maximum Motorsports rear panhard bar
Maximum Motorsports caster camber plates
Maximum Motorsports steering shaft (power)
H&R springs
Eibach sway bars
Bilstein shocks and struts

I may start a build thread, if those still interest folks?

Awesome find and it sounds like it would be a great build thread!

Love those Foxes! I had two myself ('85 and '92). I still miss the '92.

That's sure one awesome find... Meanwhile, congrats on picking up you're new to you "88" 5.0 Fox Notchback Coupe, she's a real beauty to say the very least. Also, welcome back to the forums.

Thanks,

I kind of left this forum, since it seems to be almost dead... I didn't want to do a massive write-up/build and 1 person reply to the whole thing...

Not almost dead any longer.... We have since experienced a resurgence, as we're getting newcomers joining up on nearly a daily basis, along with legacy members returning as well.

I Posted This on 09/01/23 In The Reintroduction Thread

Somethings Up I Have Not Seen These Numbers For awhile!

Most users ever online was 1,011, Today at 10:39 AM.

A Couple of Days Ago We Had Over 2500

So While The Active Posters are Small Our Viewing Audience is Really Growing!

In Fact Right Now on a Tuesday Night. We Have 2200

The Lack of Participation Seems to Be a Current Norm in Society in Regards to Many Car Sites Anyway.

Where We Once Were a Live Play We Are Now A Movie! Still Watched and Enjoyed Just Not the Level of Connection. Sad But What it Is. But When it Gels Wouldn't You Rather Have a Small Bunch Of Good Folks Your Are Totally Comfortable With and Trust Vs a Mob of Yahoo's! Just Saying!

It Takes a Bit to get in The Groove. We are So Used to Somebody Jumping in and Getting a Quick Fix and Disappearing Without So Much as a Like For The Trouble So At times I think The Regulars are a Bit Road Weary of That.

That Example Was Not a Reflection on You as You Have Been Gracious With The Help You Have Recieved.

While We May Not Have a Quantity of Help At times Mirage, I Hope The Help You Have Received Was Quality.

I Still get Questions on Threads I Did Almost 20 Years Ago So The Information Helps People For A long Time Regardless if They Post or Not. You Have 400 Views on Your Build Thread! Not Bad.

Hang in There And You Will Be a Regular and If You Build it They Will Come!

I Would Say More But I Been Up Since 3:00 in the Morning and Got a Pinch in My Shoulder and the Typing is Killing me!

**** One More Thing, Love The Car Love The Build, Enthusiasm Can Be Contagious! Keep Plugging!

Best Regards,

KC

I've been on 3 forums since I picked up the Coupe and they all seem pretty dismal... I started a build thread and the only one that replied was KC, who helped me out quite a bit, but I'm pretty sure he doesn't want to see another Fox build...
