My wife and I went to the coast over the weekend and of course we took the Mustang. Very fun drive of around 200+ miles in each direction. Some interstate highway crusing and some tight switchbacks on the same trip. The car really handled well with the Nitto tires and it was fun putting the pedal to the metal on those mountain passing lanes. Got alot of thumbs up from other drivers and saw a total of 2 other GTs. One was a white convertible and the other was a Mineral Grey. Checked the mileage after I filled up and with 1200 miles on the car and a trip that was not fuel efficient I got 21.65. Personally I can't complain about the mileage and I'm sure on a flat road crusing 70 I could get 25. BTW the weather couldn't have been nicer and the Pacific is a beautiful ocean. Chow~

The pacific coast is some of the prettiest in the U.S. in my opinion. Glad you had a nice trip!!

Back in my old Navy days we used to cruise along the coast a lot [1970] or so.

Last Dec I was in Phoenix and did a trip thru the mountains and along an old dirt mountain road. Saw some breathtaking scenery, fortunately I was in an Explorer, don't think I would take the GT there.

We took day trips the last 3 weekends along the Mississippi north from where we live. Lots of nice scenery. In 3 Sunday drives in 3 different directions we saw all of 4 '05's and none were GT's. Sure like cruising with the top down and the looks we get are priceless. I just am having trouble getting the big s**t eating grin off my face after I drive it.

I don't know what roads you took, but I love to drive from here to Fort Bragg. Descending through the trees on 20 from 101 to the coast is just beautiful. And driving anywhere on the coast highway is always a great ride. Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend.

The chow is also good. There's a microbrewery in Fort Bragg that serves a good lunch, and I usually pick up a Dungeness crab at the harbor. Italians say "ciao!".

Speaking of Fort Bragg, I grew up there, my dad, his dad, my moms dad all there at Bragg (Along with a few others tours but ended up staying at bragg)

Hey Rich, that's great! That view was well worth the drive alone. But aren't we all spending a lot more time behind the wheel these days? Ford's new Mustang is getting a lot of people excited about driving again. America has got some of the most amazing vistas. Nothing like having the freedom to explore!

I hope to document my journey west in August...

You mentioned milage. I also am happy with the milage and was not expecting as good as I am getting. I took a ~300 mi. trip Bakersfield to Riverside, CA last weekend. By the message center computer I got appx. 24 mpg. That is with AC on, over the Grapevine on I-5 (mountains) and a bit of traffic in LA. All in all, I can't complain.

A pleasure to drive this car!

Oh. Phoenix. Great memories of that place from a drive from south to north in May a long time ago. Not in a Mustang, but in an old 1984 Alfa Romeo Spider. I put the top up in the parking lot at Nepenthe before lunch and came out to to rain afterward. It only added to the beauty of the drive. If you've never driven that part of the coast, you must go. I think only the coast highway in Oregon in the spring can rival that drive for scenic majesty.

I went from San diego to Vancouver and back down the coast in 2001. The best driving holiday I have ever taken! got burned down one side for 2 weeks, then did the other side coming back! I think one of the photo's I took says it all :

That picture Tom is taken from the Heritage House just south of Mendocino. My wife and I love the area between SF and Ft Bragg.
