Newbie here! Mustang hopeful!
Hey everyone! Just thought I'd introduce myself...
My name is Honzo. I used to own an 01 Merc Cougar, but unfortunately, on 12/26 it was put to death by a drunk driver Luckily I wasn't though, could have been fatal. I loved the car, but you guys don't have to.
Anyway, some guys over at the Cougar forums i was part of referred me to you guys since I'm looking to replace it with a Mustang so I thought I'd drop by and say and ask a few questions...
Basically, what i'm looking at currently is a 03 GT Convertible 5 speed with about 60k miles, which seems to be a great find for the 8500 asking price. I just wanted to know from experienced mustang owners if there is anything particular I should have checked out before I seal the deal. It really looks like a sweet ride but I don't wanna get screwed over. Any usual problems or parts prone to failure I should have checked?
Also, guess i should include some pics for a little cool factor
what do you guys think?

Welcome Honzo! While I am not qualified to comment on any things to look out for on the '03 GT, I am glad to see you are interested in Mustangs! You'll love it here. Great friends with lots of great advice and pictures!

Welcome! I hope you can find a Mustang that makes you just as happy as mine has made me.
That New Edge is pretty nice! Hope it works out for you.

Welcome to TMS, Honzo! Check out the SN95 Mustang forums to see what others are saying about the car. Lots of good information, there and everywhere else here. Enjoy your stay.

Welcome to the forums. Pics look good, but you really need to check it out. Look in the trunk, under and around the spare tire for body damage. Look under the car for any over spray. If you can put it on a lift to check the motor from underneath, oil leaks and such. While on the lift check power steering for leaks and play in the bushings. Check your core support and surrounding areas for replacement parts. If it checks out just enjoy.

Well.... no good news here :/
Test drove it today. It sounded alright but shook a bit on the road. I kinda thought it was because i'm not used to a monster powerhouse under the hood, but i mashed it full throttle through a couple gears and I honestly can't say it was any faster that my cougar was... so something was terribly wrong I'm assuming.
Also, I took a turn and "slosh"
i pop the trunk and theres just water sitting under the spare tire. *sigh, i guess i should have known it was too good to be true.

Welcome Honzo. I would recommend you do a Carfax check . . . . .it is a good start . . . . .to ensure you are not wasting your time on a car which may have been wrecked. I just bought a 2001 Bullitt last month ($10500 - 46,000miles). Carfax told me my car was driven 3,000 miles in the last 3 years! I made the 60 mile trip to see the car . . . . and I met an older widower . . . . her husband bought the car, got sick, and basically kept the car in the garage for the last 3 years. Lucky me! I am sure the dead owner is also happy I am taking good care of his Bullitt! Good luck on your search! I am sure there are good lightly used Mustang there in Jacksonville! I would recommend a completely stock 01 Bullitt or a 03/04 Mach 1 (these owners seem to "baby" their cars more than typical GT owners and are cheaper than Cobras.)
