After dreaming for 25+ years and thinking that is all it would ever be is my dream- I was fortunate enough to be able to buy my very own Mustang! Hunting for 3 months until I found THE one that spoke to me I finally found her… a black 2012 GT with low miles and a clean carfax, I pulled the trigger and she was delivered May 7. After getting to know each other for a few weeks I named her “Duchess” and it’s been bliss ever since.
Until Wednesday. September 25. When I got a little too out of pocket, swerved to avoid a head on instead plowing into a parked Scion… I have no words for the sadness and embarrassment and shame. I have apologized to duchess and surprisingly she doesn’t seem to be holding it against me too much. I just don’t know how I’m going to go about getting her back to beautiful.
Pardon the dust I had not had a chance to properly wash her.
Welcome to TMS! Looks like a pretty nice 2012 GT even though a bit dusty/dirty. I too was wondering if there was damage from your event that was hidden somewhere? Did not see anything that a thorough wash job would not fix in these pictures. But it does sound like you are learning that these cars can be a bit quick to get you in trouble if you take their power for granted. Have fun, but respect the quickness behind that throttle. Love to see it after a nice wash (and maybe a wax). But looks like a nice car so far. Congrats!

Welcome aboard and congrats on finally turning your 25+year dream of owning a Mustang into reality... I also agree with the posts above that other than your 2012 GT needing a bath, I don't see any noticeable damages from the pics you posted...

I posted the few pics I took when she was delivered and was too embarrassed to post the pics of the damage post crash. But… here we go.
she still runs great and so far the damage is all cosmetic. I cringe every time I think about the time + cost of getting her fixed back up but I will be looking for a shop/quote and beginning that process asap. Any recommendations? I live in the burbs of Detroit. Also weird question and lesson learned on buying used- can anyone explain WHYYYYYYY the spacers and wide stance would be on the front not the back? I’ve kinda assumed the dealership messed up and rotated or something but seriously wtf?
The Tires May Have Been Rubbing on The Inside or Brake Clearance Issue. If The Wheels Are The Same Width All Around May Need Some Narrower Wheels Up Front. Easy Enough to Check Wheel Width & Offset Specs Maybe Embossed on Backside. Removing Spacers Up Front and Testing Lock To Lock Should Show What is Going On. Might Get By With Smaller Tires.
Find Out & Post All Your Wheel Specs & We Can Figure Out Best Course of Action.
If You Could Find a Wrecked Black One You Might get By With Out Having to Paint. Also Plenty Of Chance For Upgrades Now If You Wanted a Different Hood Grille or Fascia. If All The Damage is Just To Bolt on Items and No Structural Repairs Needed Could Save Some Bucks Doing Your Own Work If You Are Up To It. Get Some Estimates and Post if You Like. It Could Help With Recommendations!

Nothing to feel embarrassed about here as we're all very understanding and supportive folks... And besides It's not like you asked for this to happen, as you did the very best you could to avoid a potentially serious head on collision with only split seconds to rely upon... Therefore, don't beat yourself up nor blame yourself... The important factor is that nobody got seriously injured and were able to walk away unharmed...
Although, I can surely understand how you must be feeling about the damages to your Mustang shortly after becoming the new owner, your vehicle insurance should be able to locate replacement parts for the hood and front valance for you...
I don't know what your insurance deductible is, but most policies are usually $500.00 and from what I can see from the images you provided, the costs for the replacement parts, paint and labor should most definitely exceed your deductible, so your insurance policy should be able to cover everything and get your Mustang back up on the road and looking like new again with no out of pocket expenses required by you...
So, in the meantime, just hang in there the best you can and know you have our full support. We'll also be looking forward towards keeping us updated with the repair and replacement parts status as well...

Ouch, though not fatal they are bad enough. Looks like bumper and a hood. Not sure what is under the skin, and hope it is minimal. Keep us updated.
My guess on the spacers is like KC, check if they have installed the big brakes on the front (i.e. Brembo's, or some of those others). If you have the bigger than standard brakes they would be a problem for the standard wheels. Follow KC's info. He has made some very good points and suggested some great options.

Yup, it's embarrassing all right. I still get embarrassed looking at my T/A photos after a backed into the wall in my own driveway!! I've only lived here for 22+ years!!
I keep the photos to remind myself never to do it again. $2,000 later it's all OK. I was glad I had Hagerty with $0 deductible.
Before and after photos from earlier this year. Yours will be fine again soon. Good luck!
