Just picked up my first mustang few days ago on Monday. It's an 05 GT sonic blue, 5spd. Been wanting one for years and finally got a great deal, low miles, etc. Hope to learn alot here.

Thank you thank you. I had it for a day before I started buying stuff for it. Starting small. And I know I may get flamed for it but, I got an hid kit for it. I've had ddm in every vehicle I've owned and my bikes since 05. Only had one bad ballast. Eventually I'm going to get a set of Raxiom 2010 style headlights and do a retro on them.

Congrats. Don't be concerned with other's opinions on your mod selections....do what you like.
My .02 is this: that's a great color and really sparkles when done right. If you're already familiar with detailing and paint maintenance, then read no further. If not, learn the tricks. There are a thousand different detail products so I won't get into that, but proper washing techniques, paint correction methods, regular cleaning, and periodic detailing in all the nooks and crannies including the engine bay make for a head turning Mustang. Many of us here are fanatics when it comes to that stuff and a well detailed car will get you noticed as much, if not more so than a heavily modded car. And by all means join a club and/or attend shows and local cruise events where you can show it off.
Good luck.

The only thing I'll need good advice on detailing for is the engine bay. My buddy is an excellent detailer, but only for the paint and interior. I wanna keep the bay looking as great as it does now.

Welcome! Great forum here - you will enjoy it. I bought my first mustang 4 years ago, 2006 GT convertible! Was never a Ford guy but the mustang converted me. You'll have a blast, enjoy and we're here for you!
