Got a new track date set. Heading back to the track on September 11th. I couldn't think of a more American thing to do than drag racing on that day. I hope the rain stays away, but it is too far into the future to have any idea right now.

Thanks guys. I will get it back to the track soon hopefully...that is if I still have the car or if it still runs after this darn hurricane Rita passes through. But God willing I will get it back to the track. The ol goat is running REALLY good right now after the new throttle body and a little more tuning...I can't wait to get it to the track, it has a 12.1-12.2 in it easy.

That's why opinions are opinions, everyone's is different. I love the looks of my car. Also, I think people like to forget that the original GTO was just a plain 2-door "sedan" with a huge engine dropped in and a scooped hood. heck, there were 2 other pontiac models out at the same time with the exact same body. The looks were plain back then too, the difference is that the classics are looked back on more fondly and where known as muscle cars irregardless of what they looked like. I really don't get the "it is a shame to put GTO on it" concept. The modern GTO is more in line with the classic GTO than people like to remember or admit, the only real exception is that the modern day goat is much faster and performs much better.

When you say that the '64 GTO was just a LeMans with a big engine and badges, you're pretty much right (except the suspension improvements & burnished dash). On the samr token though, the new GTO is just a Holden Monero with a big engine dropped in & badges added as well, isn't it?
In closing, it's all a matter of taste for each individual. Your car looks really good. I'm glad you like it as much as I like my new Mustang. I'd say we're both winners. Best, Bill
