My first project

Hello everyone, I'm doing my first project mustang! I bought a 1997 mustang with a broken v6 that I plan on taking out, and putting a DOHC 4.6 in and eventually supercharging it.

I just got rid of my 1998 Stang. It had a V-6 with a venom chip and an aftermarket intake and throttle body. With the 5 speed it would take a stock 4.6 of the same year. My son then blew the motor in it and I thought about doing about the same thing. The thing that scared me was the wiring harness is not interchangable. I did not feel comfortable after I found that out, so I just bought another Mustang. Good Luck.

currently it has a 4R70E 4 speed automatic which should bolt up to any 4.6 with the right bellhousing, and i did expect to have to get a new wiring harness/ecu. what other projects have you done?

I've done a few projects in my life. My favorite was restoring my 73 Mach 1. That was the greatest car ever and my all time fav. I bought a 1974 Oldsmobile Omega Sport which I put a 455 Pontiac motor in and changed the wiring harness. That was a nightmare and I constantly had electrical problems. The wiring harness sound easy, it's not. That was on a carb motor and I would believe that a newer car with all the electronics would be even worse.
Your motor will bolt up with the bell housing swap, but the wiring harness is going to be a nightmare. I even thought about putting a carb motor in my 98 stang to reduce the amount of wiring I would need. The problem then would be getting the thing through emissions every year. Personally, I'd sell it and buy another stang, which is what I did.

Do this. It only takes a couple of wire to make it run.
