Just bought my first Mustang!
I have always loved mustangs. My dad had a 70's Mach 1 when I was a kid. My best friend had a FoxBody 5.0 convertible, candy apple red, black leather interior, neon lights under the car and 4 10" subs. During high school years we had nights when everyone cruised around the mall, showing off their rides and hanging out. My buddy loved to smoke weed but then he got paranoid and he'd say, "man, will you drive for me?" Hell Yeah! Girls would pull up and say, "nice car, can we ride with yall?" Hell Yeah! It wasn't my car but I loved to be behind the wheel. That was 17 years ago. Now I'm 35 with 4 kids and 2 ex-wifes. 3 of my kids will be driving their own cars soon. I've had mini vans and SUV's. Finally, I got a ride that I enjoy driving. I searched craigslist all over Texas for a well maintained car. There are so many mustangs for sale in Texas it's unreal. Not good for those trying to sell but awesome for those buying and finding parts and upgrades is easy. I wanted a GT but I thought, "As much as I'd like to have it, do I really need all that horsepower? Yeah it would be fun, probably too much fun. I'd be doing burnouts, showing off, and getting tickets. The car would cost more, gas would cost more, insurance a little higher, and I wouldn't be able to do much as far as upgrades and customizing. Maybe later I can get a GT. For now I got a 99 mustang v6, 35 anniversary edition. High mileage but it was driven by a lady, who's husband was a Ford technician. Very well maintained and clean. New carpet and upholstery, including the trunk. The things that you would start having problems with on a car with high mileage had already been addressed. Preventive maintenance instead of waiting for the problems to happen. Paint on the bumper, roof, trunk, and back bumber was touched up.Got the car at a great price. Then I found a set of 2013 GT rims with Perelli tires for $350. Only had 1, 000 miles on them. The guy bought new rims and just wanted them out of his garage. I took the American Racing rims that came on the car and traded them for subs and amp, sounds nice too. I'm about to put dual exhaust on it next. Then lowering springs and upgrades on the suspension. Then I'll work on performance and add a some more horse power. Hey, it'll look and sound like a GT but get better gas mileage, and still be pretty quick and fun to drive. Im keeping this car and passing it down. Over time I'll get leather seat or racing seats and do some custom work on the apperance inside and out. What I like about mustangs is everything is easy to get to and work on so I'll save a lot of money there. Anybody thats got common sense and mechanically inclined can do it there self. It's going fun and it will be nice to get my boys involved. Finally got something to do that they like more than the PS3. I'm a happy man.
