Hi from near Vancouver BC Canada
Hi there all
I joined waaaay back when I thought I was going to buy a Mustang and fulfill a lifelong dream (well, ever since I saw a neighbour when I was 16 selling her '65 - over 30 years ago!), but stuff happened and I'm still Mustang-less!
But, I've been saving and probably this time next year I should have the funds to buy what I want - something near new (2011-2012 V6 Convertible). I hate debt and want to have a really sizable down-payment before really looking.
I will be browsing the forum for ideas and since I've owned multiple vehicles (my present Nissan I bought new in '92, and still have it at over 300,000km, previous car was a new '87 VW that saw 200K) I might have some stuff to contribute before buying a Mustang as pretty much everything has gone and been replaced on those 2 cars!

Hey Bud,
I'm from Greater Vancouver too and yes I can completely understand yourpoint of view on having a Mustang versus debt. I will share my recentexperience for buying my dream Stang maybe that would help u to make adecision.
I had visited several dealerships in BC looking for either '13 OR '14 Stangs(just because I love the looks of these models). My budget of strictly 30Kperiod for either V6 or GT (used). From my research what I found is V6 from'11-'12 it would go anywhere between 18-23K with less than 50,000 kms. WhereasGT's can shoot up to 25k and up.
For me I had picked Key West Ford (New West) as they are licensed Roushdealers plus they carry crazy fleet of Stangs to choose from. So, I was able tonegotiate on a '13 GT Convertible (less than 20,000 kms) with BC’s 12% tax Land few ad-ons (GT/CS stuff) I walked out of the door not paying more than 34K.This was a cracking deal for me and I will suggest you to wait until later thisyr or so and get '13 or '14 GT only. Why, because GT is the way to go I knowinsurance and gas sucks here in BC but hey if u get your hands on a GT lessthan 30K used one it’s something to consider. Plus GT's will hold a good value.Don’t get me wrong V6 is still good but avoid getting premium package insteadopt for performance pack that can save you 2k-3k easily and give u some GT’s shivers.
I paid 5k as down payment with 4% finance rate and of course as I would liketo keep my Stang for long time so I’m trying my best to increase monthlypayments and pay it off ASAP (might have to take on extra gigs but hey anythingfor a Stang).
One last thing, with having a GT you will earn totally different respect onthe streets I have seen folks in Bimmers and Mercs giving thumbs up when I’mcruising on the streets. If u want to have Stang why not save little bit moreand get one that is something special and GT is one of them.
Good luck with your goal and I’m sure u will own one too! (took me few yrs tosave for my Stang)
- Hans.

Thanks...I'll give this thought. I imagine I will be saving until at least this time next year, so lots of time to think it over.
Meanwhile, I'll hang out and learn!

An update -- my car of 22 years decided to need a fuel pump and after doing that, it still didn't work! So, it was time to say goodbye to an old friend...
And as my wife terms it - I consoled myself by "retail therapy" - I finally got my Mustang. A Candy Red 2011 Convertible with Pony and Security packages. I've already used half a tank of gas driving to various friends and family who want a ride, even though the weather isn't really convertible weather!
Out with the old...
And in with the new...

Thanks! No, it's a v6. I'll get a decent pic soon...and probably post them in the candy red section...life and work have suddenly become busy.
Yes, batten down the hatches tonight! Mine's in a carport so hopefully it will be OK.
