Hello, I just joined up. I've had the same '77 V8 Mustang II coupe since 1988. It's steadily gotten quicker over the years. I built it for road course racing, but it's still just a street car. The car is surprisingly gentle and well mannered as long as I'm light on the throttle.
332" SBF - 4.030 bored '72 iron 302 block. 3.25" stroke old Eagle (USA made) steel crankshaft, old Eagle(USA made) 5.5" H-beam rods, free floating pins w/ JE forged ultralight pistons, 11:1 CR, cam is a 250/260@.050 w/106 LSA solid flat tappets, ported Track Heat heads, ported Victor JR intake, 750 Race Demon carb. Edelbrock mechanical fuel pump, aluminum underdrive pulleys, and a manual steering rack so there's no p/s pump. 530hp at the crankshaft, I shift it between 8000-8500 rpm depending on traction. The car weighs 2450 lbs on the scale, with 3.10 gears in back, in a 9" housing taken from a 1959 T-bird. Wheels are 1995 Cobra R 17s, with 255/40ZR17 Toyo Proxy R888 tires. The automatic transmission is a manual shifted reverse valve body C4 Roller Mite w/5000 rpm converter from Dynamic Racing, and I shift it with a B&M megashifter. I've never raced it on the strip, but it's pretty quick from the GPS test runs. It's a handful to drive when I'm into the throttle, I shift into 2nd gear at 80mph, and into 3rd at 136mph. I'm not sure what its exact top speed is either, but it's gone fast before. I guess a theoretical top speed would be 204mph @8500 rpm, but there's no salt flats here in upstate New York to test it. lol
This is an ever-evolving project, I've spent much of my life playing with various drivetrain setups, etc. It's a labor of love.

Thank you! p.s. Yeah, that old cassette deck still works good, lol Can't hear much from it unless the engine is off, but the radio is light weight, that is why I kept it. lol
