Hello from San Diego

Hello all,

I've had Mustangs for years, including a 92 GT, 00 Roush Stage 2, 85 GT, and my current car, which is an 86 LX 5.0 that started life as a four-cylinder car. I'm a big fan of road racing, and am building this car to be a streetable weekend track car. I've run track weekends at Laguna Seca, Buttonwillow and CA Speedway in previous cars I've owned, and would like to have this car on the track by the end of the summer.

The engine is from my 85 GT but has been upgraded to mass air EFI. It has an E-303 cam, K&N CAI, JBA headers, and Magnaflow exhaust. The suspension consists of a full 5-lug conversion with Ford Racing axles and Cobra brakes, Granatelli coil-overs and Steeda QA1 tubular suspension in front, and Global West control arms and a Maximum Motorsports panhard bar in the rear. It's lowered 1.5" on Koni "Yellow" shocks and struts and H&R "Race" springs. The wheels are 17 x 9 Konig Villains, and the tires are 275/40R17 in the rear and 245/45R17 in the front (BFG G-Force Comp 2).

Other miscellania include a Paul's High Performance differential cooler, aluminum driveshaft (w/ Lakewood driveshaft loop), MM solid steering shaft, Summit Racing aluminum radiator, Corbeau FX1 driver's seat, Cobra Opus passenger seat, G-Force harnesses, and some Autometer gauges. I had an opportunity to have the car weighed a few years ago, and it tipped the scales at 3,121 lbs. (w/o driver).

I drive the car every day. It's not exactly luxurious (no heat or A/C...yet), but handles pretty well and is a blast to drive.

Thanks for the welcome. The wing looks adjustable because of the braces, but my guy built it with a fixed attachment bracket to save money on the build. He picked what he thought would be the most effective angle for road racing.

The passenger-side gauges are mounted in a Florida 5.0 cluster. I'd love to get the main gauges replaced with a Florida 5.0 cluster to match, but it's mucho dinero.
