about to order my 2012 5.0 and need help!

hello people. im about to order my 2012 5.0 and i cant decide which one is better auto or manual.....please help me decide because i really like the brembo brakes and especially the wheels. in fact that the only reason im having a hard time deciding are the wheels! i can drive a stick but im no pro at power shifting. i guess i want the peace of mind in knowing if a SS pulls up next to me at a stop light, i know i can smoke him! your feed back is appreciated

If ALL you care about is straightline dragracing the automatic will give you a consistent run vs all those stoplight bandits without the possiblity of messing up.

That being said there is no substitute for the joy of rowing your own gears to make driving fun and really bond with your car. With a manual you can hold gears through turns, listen to the engine and exhuast wind down downshifting to a stop, really control burnouts, put it in the right RPM spot for those rolling races etc etc etc.

Plus you would get mad street cred for a manual yo -

I have a 2011 GT with the Brembo brakes and 3.73 rear + 6 spd manual. I have had many fast cars but this is the first one that's REALLY fast. Almost scary. I recommend the manual. It takes some practice to drive this one smoothly, but when you want to GO, you just put it in the correct gear, punch it, and it GOES!

The autos are good.....but the manuals are better. You just can't beat the interation of man and machine if you're changing gear yourself

Welcome! Go with the 6 speed UNLESS you will be sitting in traffic every day commuting. Otherwise you will master and enjoy the manual more. Plus the Auto comes with 3.15 gears,,manual you have more choices which can drasticly increase your 0-60 or 1/4 mile. Jus my 2cents

These things go together: Muscle Car/Mustang=Stick
Luxury Car/Lincoln=Auto
My .02 cents

The Brembo brakes should make the decision for you! You'll love Do It Yourself shifting! I debated a little on this subject myself. I had a 2003 supercharged SVT Cobra with the Tremec, and it was a ***** in SoCal freeway driving... but the new GT trans is far superior, and I don't have to use the freeways as much any more . . . so it's a no-brainer, really, for me.
