2014 Shelby GT500

I have an opportunity to purchase a ‘14 Shelby GT500 with 115 actual miles. 100% garage kept. Price $60,000. I am not a collector but would value this as a collector car. Two questions:
Does this car have the potential to appreciate in value? Is the purchase price a fair price?

any help or thoughts would be appreciated.
thank you.
dave.

Sounds like a solid find. Yes the car (2013 & 2014 models) does have lots of potential as an investment and has already gone up in value over the last couple of years. Many are already selling for close to or even above the original MSRP even though they are now 8 and 9 years old. The value will depend on what options are on the car and the cars miles and condition. If the car is stock or modified is a big concern, as stock cars are more desirable, but are getting harder to find. Having the right mods is not a issue, but some are extreme. The base models with minimal options are not as valuable as those with these options. But, even the base models have the Carrol Shelby touches, the 662 hp, styling, and are fantastic cars.

Most desirable options:
SVT Performance Package
SVT Track Package
Recaro Seats (Do not fit larger folks well and do not have any electric options like the base Ford seats.)

Additional options that add significant value
Navigation Package
Shaker Pro Sound System
Glass Roof (Which is probably the most rare option)

Search this forum and you will find other threads about the car and what options are felt to be essential.

not sure if the increase in value recently is just the "pandemic premium" or if that will persist in the future

Top value is $53K with 115 miles, according to KBB. It might be a good idea and worth the money to have it professionally inspected. Also, make sure its history and title are clean, and that it does not have a salvaged title. No offense to the seller but an enthusiastic prospective buyer has to keep in mind that high performance used cars have higher probabilities of previous damage not necessarily reported to insurance companies, thus rendering car reports from the likes of CARFAX useless at times.

My opinion is not meant to sound negative or pessimistic, but when one gets burned as I was with a 2004 Cobra with similar particulars as what you are interested in, one learns to be cautious. Trust but verify.

I fully agree with all 3 posters and would consider taking their recommendations as very serious before making a final decision .. Meanwhile, wish you the best of luck and also welcome aboard.

Just hope your not overpaying at 60k.. As mentioned above KBB top value with 115 miles is listed at 53k But knowing the car is 100% stock and that you know the owner personally, your obviously getting a "14" GT500 which is in very pristine and mint condition, it would seem that 60k is worth the asking price.. Meanwhile, I'll also be looking very forward to seeing some pics as well, and wish you the best of luck
