20 inch rims

I just bought some 20 inch rims and tires for my 06 gt... it had 18s on it when I bought it but 2 of the rims where bent so I borrowed the 17s off my 02 mustang until I got some, well I got some and they're 20s and after I put them on and started driving they made my steering wheel shake side to side just a little.... it didn't do it before with the smaller rims and tires but the guy also said they probably needed to be balanced.... is there anything else I should check or just get them balanced and see what happens.... is there anything else I need to know about changing to bigger tires.... please let me know what you guys think

make sure the retainer clip/washer things have been removed from the wheel studs (behind the wheel, on top of the rotors)

these washers can cause problems with a lot of aftermarket wheels because the wheels do not have the recess on the back like the OEM ones do, so the wheels sit up on top of the washers and don't run true . . . they are used on the assembly line to make sure the rotors don't fall off before the wheels are installed, but other than that they serve no function (except to cause problems with aftternarket wheels, LOL)

after you are sure those washer/clips have been removed, then look at balancing, etc.

That worked...I had my tires balanced and they did have the little clips or washers on the rotors so I took them off and they run good now.... thanks for the help.... and another question... is there anyway to get pitting and peeling chrome on rims off and fix it.... is there anything I can re- chrome the wheels with? They are just looking a little rough or would it be better to just plastic dip them

I'm glad that worked! I took mine to three different balancing shops, none of which realized what the problem was, before someone on here told me about those stupid clips, so I'm glad I could "pay it forward" and save you a little frustration

I do not know any easy or cheap way to fix chrome or clear coat, I think you are looking at about $100/each to have someone refinish them . . . plasti-dip is probably the most practical solution.

Yeah I was thinking plastic dip also... and when I told the guys at the tire shop about those clips they kinda acted like they didn't know what I was talking about but I looked myself when they took my tires off
