your pocket knife?
I have a victorinox multitool for sale. Got it this past Christmas and I've cut 2 wires with it. Other than that its brand spanking new. If anyone is interested, make an offer before I put it on egay.

My hunting buddy said the edge of the blade folds over so once or twice with a steel is all that's needed. I tried and he's right. Even the best 440/420HC blades lose their edge after 8 or 10 times. And rather than touching up several times with a steel (like a chef on tv) it really only took once or twice on both sides and it was back in action.
However, to put the best edge on the blade to begin with, you really want to keep the same angle. Kind of tough with the old sharpening stone. Since the 70's I've used the Lansky type that holds the same angle. Perfect edge every time!

Ceramic blades come from the factory with a razor sharp edge... and they hold it. However, resharpening them is harder than convincing a Kentuckian to wash his hands, and dropping the knife can result in a shattered blade. I prefer good stainless blade steel, myself.
The Hoosier state repealed its law outlawing possession of automatic openers (switchblades), so now I can bring some of my good stuff out and start using it like the makers intended.
Since were on this subject, what do you guys use to sharpen? Ive been looking at the japanese water stones more for my kitchen knives but for my folding knives and such, especially with serations, im curious what works. I currently have a good ceramic rod i use for the fine edge, but if its in bad shape I have a two sided stone i use to get it in good enough shape to then use the ceramic.
