I have to admit, those stupid sci-fi channel originals are pretty entertaining if you're doing something else.

Surviving an a allergic reaction. Sitting here with my eyes swollen almost completely shut, my nose thicker than concrete and my throat so swollen I can see the fluid under the skin. I'm cutting one heck of a pathetic figure right now, with a stupid epi pen sitting on my desk. I can't describe how much I hate allergies.

The problem is that I'm not sure what caused it. I think it was something that I ate for breakfast, either the cheese or the peaches or the french toast or something my wife used to cook the french toast. Most of my allergies have dissipated over the years; I still get a sniffy nose if I roll around in the grass with the dog, but many of my food allergies are much less intense. However, new things result in what happened this morning. I used to take a protein powder in the morning until I realized it was causing swelling in my lips and around my eyes. Went to the dr. and found out it's angioedema, or an internal allergic reaction to a stimulus. It's unfortunately much more dangerous than regular allergic reactions because it causes swelling inside the body as opposed to surface reactions. If the reaction is in the throat, like mine was this morning, it can cause the throat to swell completely shut. Like I said, dangerous. Ever since it happened the first time, I've had to keep this stupid epinephrine with me all the time now. I also have to be careful what new things I try to eat as a result. I'm going to get tested for allergies next week and start taking allergy shots to see if I can eliminate the problem.
