Hmmm, JT and I have different standards. I don't want my ol' lady going out to honky tonks getting drunk and dancing with other dudes. I'm not jealous, but I'm weird like that. Don't think its alright by any means.

Just asking for trouble.
Then again if she went with a bunch of girlfriends to have a good time every once in a blue moon, I don't see much of a problem there either. When it turns into a regular thing, look out brother.

Its not that I don't trust the ol' lady, its that I don't trust the young, stoned, drunk, ****sticks that hang out in honky tonks that are there for no other reason than to pick up young women (yes, my ol' lady is young....er than me. Much younger.)

Country dance clubs. Geez. I know guys that hate country but know every dance just so they can meet chicks in those clubs.

Those are the worst ones, the county joints. The rocker chicks actually tend to be partiers and are down with what is going on. However, the ones I mentioned in another post, there are women that will have drinks and think they are ****ed up, even if they have little or no alcohol in them, **** is all in their mind ( no kidding, I've seen it with my own eyes). I've seen these "country music chics" appear to be super ****ed up and have been sipping on drinks that are nothing but mix and lime wedges. I think its because the country music scenario is drinking and partying, and they fall into the whole scheme, don't even realize that there is nothing there. Pretty damned amazing what the mind can do when you trick it.

Yes AL it's once in a blue moon... Not even that often, I hate clubs and going out really. I'd rather go to dinner and chill and drink there then go home... Dina and I have more fun on our lunch dates then what we had tonight.

Ill go out with my one buddy allowed to do anything every blue moon or so. Usually it's a metal show. There's a cigar bar we seem to always end up at also. No dancing. No good looking girls. Just getting out and away is good to do sometimes.

I hate clubs and honky tonks. I liked them when I was young ( your age) but I can't stand the thought of going to one now. I wish we had bars around here, but with it being the Bible belt we don't. Basically anyplace that gets a license and sells liquor by the drink has to make 70% of its profit from food sales. And the liquor licenses are outrageously expensive per year on top of that. Last time I looked which was about 15 years ago, it was $10K to pour liquor, $5k to pour beer, $5K to pour wine. Which basically added up to $20K a year just to pour drinks (no telling how much it is now).

That has basically put any entrepreneur like me out of the game. Only thing we have are chain restaurants like Applebee's, Chili's etc. A restaurant with a tiny little bar inside. If you want to go have a drink, you have to sit amongst families eating dinner all around you because they have to sell mostly food to keep their liquor, beer, wine licenses.

If it weren't for that ****, I could make a killing by opening a bar, which I would love to do. And I mean a traditional bar, a place where people could come in and drink, with bar food as a side item (wings, burgers, appetizers, etc.) but mostly just a bar. Think of the show Cheers. But no, can't have that here. I even know people on the city council, and know county commissioners, have business dealings with them, but they won't even bring something like that up for a vote because they are afraid of not getting re-elected by these bible thumping people around here. Even though the county is full of drug addicts, meth cooks, and the highfalutin folks getting ****ed up all the time.

The junkies don't/can't vote, the highfalutin folks are trying to keep up appearances (even though their kids are usually the ones that are slinging and cooking the meth, gotta keep that under wraps) and they all show up at church on Sunday morning (even though they are hung over and probably banged the neighbors wife the night before) and then rail against that evil satan's nectar and those places that sell it. And yeah, they were at the Outback, Applebees, Red Lobster the night before sucking down drinks, getting the local cops to escort them home drunk as **** to keep from getting a DUI.

Biggest bunch of hypocrites I've ever seen. And ****ing me out of making some money. ********.

Way different here. Liquor license is easy and buy or build a bar. The problem is nobody there spends money. I can go into any of the many bars here in town and tell you exactly who is inside before I even go in. Same folks not spending any money. It's just not very profitable around here. Most working folks here just meet up at the neighborhood hangout (some bodies driveway or yard) and drink every night. Lol

I remember the first time I went up north to visit some people in Wisconsin and Iowa, I was amazed at the number of actual bars. Even out in rural areas, riding down a back road you'd come across a little bar out in the middle of nowhere. And in town, they're would be bars practically right next to a church. Heck, people would leave after church and walk over to the bar. Around here, you can't sell any kind of alcohol (even package to go, like a 12 pk of beer) within 1000ft of a church.

I don't mind country music as much these days but I definitely understand. I don't mind being in a honky tonk bar if there is a quality band playing live. I felt exactly like you until I took a trip to Nashville. Really a lot of great musicians out there. And I really enjoy watching a great live band. Don't care what type of music they are playing. Although I prefer a great metal or blues show, I can do country in doses with good alcohol of course.
